Love to ski. Pretty good for a flatlander, about average for those who live in the hills. Getting older and slower, but still having fun! Also love to hike. Glacier is the best followed by the Tetons and Yosemite.

Nice jacket

Marmot Frontside Jacket - Men's

Marmot Frontside Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 5, 2010

Very light jacket with tons of pockets. Got it for $110 off SAC. I'm 6'- 230, and the XL fits great with room for layering. Soft material, no noise. Breathes well. I love the zipper. Its big and beefy. Slides together easily, and zips effortlessly. Hood adjusts nicely. Sleeves are a little long, but most XL sleeves are long on me. The Angel Wing design is nice. The coat does not ride up when I lift my arms.

Only complaints are the color, and the Pit zips. The Deep Blue looks a little purple in lower light. The pit zips could use mesh behind them like other jackets. When the zips are open, its like having a hole in the coat.

I use this vest under my Oakley Shell when the temp drops below 25 degrees. Keeps me warm, and fits well. I'm 6', 230 and wear an XL.

If only it had more room

Stoic Welder Hi Softshell Jacket - Men's

Stoic Welder Hi Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 December 22, 2009

Got the Welder Hi yesterday, sent it back today. I am bummed. The jacket looked great, was comfortable in the torso, and well made. The problem is the arms were too tight. I am 6' 230 with a 48" chest. With just a t-shirt on, my arms were very constricted (shoulder down to forearm). No way to wear any kind of base layer should it be real cold outside. People with 48" chests buying an XL probably have good size arms to match. if you are tall or big in the chest with thin arms, this coat would be great.

Had there been more arm room, I would have loved this jacket. The lining was warm and soft. The shell was not stiff, and very quiet. The extra length in the back was perfect.

CamelBak Zoid Winter Hydration Pack - 122cu in

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2009

Bought one off SAC a few years ago for skiing. Keeps the water in a liquid state as advertised. The pack is pretty thin, and fits easily under my jacket. Straps are comfortable and have plenty of room. I'm 6', 230 and it fits fine. The pocket on mine is different from the current version, and does not hold much. Maybe keys, a wallet and an energy bar. Plenty of pockets in my jacket, so not an issue for me.

Flak Jacket XLJ

Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ Replacement Lens

Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ Replacement Lens

Rating for this product: 4 June 9, 2008

The usual Oakley quality, but the XLJ lenses are a little big for those with larger faces. Even with the larger nose pieces, the bottom of the lens was hitting my cheek. Switched to the regular lens in a polarized black iridium, and all is well.

The glasses are awesome. Very comfortable. Typical Oakley quality. The hydrophobic coating repels water and sweat better than previous generations of Oakley lenses. I did switch to polarized lenses, but that is a personal preference.

Mountain Hardware Ozone

Mountain Hardwear Ozone Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Ozone Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 19, 2007

Toasty warm on a 35 degree Chicago day. Keeps those mild (25+) Midwestern breezes out well as long as the pockets are zipped. XL ran tight across the chest and snug in the arms. Most XL stuff is loose on me. The XXL fits like an XL should. Arms are definitely XXL though. Quality and comfort are A++, just be aware that they run small.
