Boa's ain't for the big boy!

K2 Raider Boa Coiler Snowboard Boot - Men's

K2 Raider Boa Coiler Snowboard Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 January 4, 2009

The boot itself is great, light, comfortable, you could even wear them with your little black cocktail dress! Problem lies with the Boa system, on paper it's a great idea, easy to use, quick to get in and out of and they stay locked in position so you're not having to adjust slopeside. The problem I have is they're not spec'd for big boys, e.g. 250lbs. I've had these thing's snap in the middle of a powder day and had to come off the mountain to try and get them repaired, only to go back up the mountain and have the Boa wire snap on the other boot. You also need to be careful if you like to hook your board over your boot on the lift, I think that's what went wrong the first time! To fix the problem they need to have stronger rated wire e.g. like fishing line 400lbs break line strength etc. And you need a lace protector so you don't slice with the board edge on the way up. Again the boot is good, but completely sucks if you snap a Boa on the mountain as there's no way to get them fixed.
