Montrail Masai Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Highly recommended by local world-class adventure racers so I guessed at the size (same as my Asics) and got a pair. These are awesome, light, feel great, and handle the trails really well (especially the downhill, their nice grip gives you lots of confidence.) Treat yourself, you won’t be disappointed. I will exclusively use these on the trails but the other guys use them at the track too and love them. An all-rounder best suited to trail running.

Really, really light

Marmot Silkweight Crew - Long Sleeve - Men's

Marmot Silkweight Crew - Long Sleeve - Men's

This base layer is really light. A bit too light to wear on its own in cold temps (<5 C / 40 F,) running. Hardly know your wearing it. Good for cycling as a base layer under my cycling top, especially in the bush where you are protected from the wind. Nice feel and comfortable to wear.

CW-X Expert Tight - Men's

I admit I was sceptical about these tights about their muscle conditioning claims, but I needed to try something to help my legs.
Over a month into using them and I can honestly say they are fantastic. Fit well and really help my leg muscles. I use them for all my running and cycling (long distance and sprint). They really help keep my leg muscles in place. I would recommend these to aid in reducing muscle soreness and for quicker recovery. Not the warmest though. Still a little chilly on the bike.

Oakley Lance Armstrong Series Sunglasses

Always used Oakleys (first pair lasted 10 years) and thought I would try the ones Lance uses. The lense is very clear and they fit really well. The vents are awesome in preventing fogging. Perfect for overcast days with low light.

long battery life

Black Diamond Moonlight Headlamp

Black Diamond Moonlight Headlamp

Rating for this product: 4 July 8, 2004

These are perfect if long battery life is a factor. The brightness level is still very good, but not quite as much as the Zenix. But you can't have everything. Fit well and are very lite.
Perfect for around the campsite and walking. For trail running, I would go for the Zenix.

Brilliant light

Black Diamond Zenix IQ Headlamp

Black Diamond Zenix IQ Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 June 22, 2004

I bought this light primarily to trail run. Brightness is fantastic and easily outshines other lights in the group. 2 LED's are bright but the one in the middle is awsome. You'll only ever need the 2 LED's to run with. Nice and light so you get use to it very quickly. A very good quality product. Highly recomend this light for running and cycling (yes, it fits under my helmet, bonus is that I can see my cycle computer without its backlight). Oh, and battery consumption is very low.
