Great jacket, can't go wrong with this one.

Marmot Cauldron Insulated Jacket - Men's

Marmot Cauldron Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 9, 2009

The Cauldron rocks. Great athletic fit, plenty light. I like the use of elastic at the cuffs rather than velcro - less bulk. The hand pockets are nice and toasty with a little microfleece in there. It's a very simple and functional jacket - best insulated jacket I've owned. BTW, there are on pit zips - another reviewer mistakenly said there are.

Great jacket!

Marmot Ellsworth Insulated Jacket - Men's

Marmot Ellsworth Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 23, 2009

Great jacket. Fit is king for me, and Marmot just fits me right. Also their fit is more consistent across different jackets than Patagonia, the other brand I covet. This jacket is similar to the Cauldron in many respects, such as fuzzy pockets and a hemcord. Neither has a collar cord, which is a feature I miss. The Ellsworth is 4 oz PL in the body, 3 oz PL in the sleeves, which is a great blend of weight for warmth. Good midhip length on this jacket, super warm. The insulated hood has you covered when it gets cold and chilly. Nothing to complain about on this jacket, very solid product.

Outdoor Research WinterTrek Hat

February 23, 2009

Would this hat fit well under a bike helmet? I can't tell how bulky/thick it is compared to, for instance, 200 weight polar fleece. Please advise.

Very Warm, Very Light

Cloudveil Enclosure Insulated Jacket - Men's

Cloudveil Enclosure Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 30, 2009

Very good jacket, packs real small. I was considering this and the Patagonia MicroPuff jacket, so I'll offer a comparison. The MicroPuff has the same insulation throughout while the Enclosure has thinner/lighter insulation in the arms. The MicroPuff has elastic at the cuffs, the Enclosure is loose (surprisingly). The MicroPuff has no elastic in the collar, while the Enclosure does (a feature I find very helpful to get in the last few degrees of warmth). The MicroPuff stuffs in an included sack, the Enclosure stuffs in its own internal pocket. All in all, pretty comparable jackets. I prefer the Enclosure.
