Stoic Breaker Fleece Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 23, 2009

The Stoic Breaker Fleece Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt is everything you are looking for in a comfortable hoody. Its inside is super soft and the outside is on the techy side, it being wind resistant. It is a great fit for me in XL (I'm 6'2 210lbs). Highly recommended!

MontBell Super Stretch Burrow #4 Sleeping Bag: 35 Degree Synthetic

Rating for this product: 5 August 13, 2009

The MontBell Super Stretch Burrow #4 Sleeping Bag - 35 Degree Synthetic is a great sleeping bag. The stretch will eliminate those air pockets that keep you cold at night and makes shifting less of an issue. I highly recommend this bag.

Decent gloves, no Hestras though

Backcountry.com Stoic Inbounds Glove - Men's

Backcountry.com Stoic Inbounds Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 30, 2009

The inbounds gloves are pretty decent gloves, especially at this price point. However, do not get these if you are looking for the best gloves out there. They don't even begin to compare to Hestra's vertical cuts. They aren't as dextrous or well made as the Hestras, but are still better quality than most other gloves out there. They are warm and seem like they will last a long time.

Tramdock.com Tramdock Logo T-Shirt - Men's

Tramdock.com Tramdock Logo T-Shirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 March 30, 2009

this shirt is very soft, but a very odd cut. It is extremely long and very slim fitting. I am 6'3 200 and the XL is too long and not big enough around for me. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are tall and lanky or like tall tees.

Backcountry.com Backcountry Logo T-Shirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 March 30, 2009

I wouldn't get this shirt unless you are looking for a very very long T. These shirts just don't fit me right and I almost never have an issue with t-shirts fitting me. I am 6'3 200. They are extremely long and slim fitting. Poorly done by bc.com in my opinion. Don't get this shirt unless you are very tall and lanky or a very skinny hip hopper.

seemed vague inbounds

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Plus Binding

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Plus Binding

Rating for this product: 3 March 20, 2009

These are the benchmark in AT bindings right now, but I didn't have a chance to take these bindings into the backcountry when I got to use them. I did play around with it a bit and it seemed easy to get into the touring mode without taking them off. The bindings seemed very vague inbounds, especially when compared to my Dukes. Additionally, the binding was very difficult to adjust to different BSLs. I would also recommend setting the DIN a notch or two higher than you normally would as I pre-released several times out of them.

Overall, this binding is a great choice for someone who is looking to use them only for touring, but I wouldn't recommend charging inbounds on these at all!

Short skis that were still fun

Rossignol S7 Caballero Alpine Ski

Rossignol S7 Caballero Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 4 March 20, 2009

Hey Rossi! Make some skis for men! 188 isn't long enough in a rockered ski for anyone over 6'! That being said, I did really enjoy skiing on the S7s. They seemed to be able to go just about anywhere with ease. The bell tip,115 waist, and rocker made for some fun in the pow and more beat up snow. The traditional camber underfoot made getting back to the lift no problem.

I would highly recommend these for someone who skis out West in pow a good percentage of the time, but doesn't want a 1 trick pony. They aren't dedicated pow sticks, but they are certainly a lot of fun in the deep stuff!

Small pack perfect for half day

Black Diamond Bandit with Avalung Winter Pack - 690cu in

Black Diamond Bandit with Avalung Winter Pack - 690cu in

Rating for this product: 5 March 20, 2009

This pack is absolutely perfect if you are looking for a small pack for sidecountry or slackcountry. I wouldn't recommend it for a full day tour as it won't hold much more than a reservoir, extra layer, hat and gloves. The shoulder straps took a few days to break in, but now they are quite comfortable. I have carried 138 waisted skis in the carry with no problems at all. I use the deploy 7 shovel, which just barely fits. This small pack is well designed, efficient, and I've had no durability problems with it after using it roughly 25 days.

great skis

K2 Phat Luv Ski - Women's

K2 Phat Luv Ski - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 January 12, 2009

length: 170

These skis were great in a foot of powder and turned effortlessly in it. By mid-day when the powder was fluffy in some spots and thicker in others, the skis would transition very well, making it very easy to ski, the skis them self did all of the work. On groomers these skis require a little wider more aggressive stance and you have to really use your muscle to make the skis carve. They weren't the best for carving but at the same time there was no chatter under foot on groomers or hard-pack snow.

Light, fun skis

Rossignol Scratch Girl BC Alpine Ski - Women's

Rossignol Scratch Girl BC Alpine Ski - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 January 12, 2009

A very light ski that is good for the park. The ski is very light and is fun to whip around on perfectly groomed trails, although beware of variable conditions due to the lightness of the ski. You can fly down the groomers and carve but if you hit a patch of thicker snow be careful and stay centered, these skis are not very forgiving. The Scratch BC's can ski through powder but the turn-ability is not that great and I wish I had something thicker and heavier. If you are looking to stick to the park all day, these are the skis for you.

Bomber Pants - lack of pockets

Arc'teryx Theta SV Bib - Men's

Arc'teryx Theta SV Bib - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 12, 2009

These pants are absolutely bomber, they have held up to around 50 days of abuse now and look absolutely brand new. The only pockets are on the top of the bib, which is handy for keeping things like keys and your cellphone dry, but it doesn't make them very convenient with a jacket and/or beacon on.

The pant cuffs seem indestructible and have held up to my usual kicking off of my skis. I haven't felt any moisture come through the pants and absolutely love the fit of the XLs at 6'3 200.

I would highly recommend these pants to anyone, but I sure wish they had a leg pocket of some sort for hats/sandwiches etc.

Pole Poll Results: Get Em'

Black Diamond Carbon Fiber Ski Poles

Black Diamond Carbon Fiber Ski Poles

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2009

I have had a great experience with these poles so far. About 20 ski days with them so far and no issues. The semi-circular baskets are awesome for poling and the flicklock system has only accidentally released once on me (it was my fault). Overall, I would highly recommend these poles to anyone who likes strong, light poles that you don't notice at all!

Solid Helmet

Smith 2007 Holt Single Shot Skullcandy Audio Helmet

Smith 2007 Holt Single Shot Skullcandy Audio Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 January 4, 2009

I have about 15 days on my Holt now and I haven't had many issues at all with it. I had a Variant Brim before, and found that most of the "features" broke. I like the helmet clip much better than the snap on the Variant. This helmet does have a bit less venting than the Variant, but the vents have never broken.

The only issue I have had is with the singleshot. The speakers sound great and everything, but the controller for the ipod is awkward to use with a glove on. The volume knob also gets turned quite frequently on accident. I haven't found that great of a place for it to avoid that.

Overall, this is the best helmet I have owned and I am quite picky. Solid design that doesn't have silly features that just end up breaking when you need them.

Felt a bit sluggish, fun when you let em run

4FRNT Skis VCT Alpine Ski

4FRNT Skis VCT Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 3 December 30, 2008

I agree with the hooking feeling felt pretty much everywhere on the VCTs. I was having trouble getting them to turn in tight spots as well. I did have a few runs on some fresh with them, and their flotation was decent. That was the best time I had on them, when I let them run. The setup I skied on was VERY heavy and felt clumsy.

Overall, I wouldn't particularly recommend these skis, but they did perform and didn't let me down.
