Great running water bottle

Nathan MP3 Thermal Quickdraw Water Bottle

Nathan MP3 Thermal Quickdraw Water Bottle

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2010

I have used both the normal quickdraw, and tried the thermal as well. I dont usually train in climates with brutal heat, so I am usually good with the normal Quickdraw Elite. I really like the hand positioning with the nathan's. Easy to hold the bottle in a few different positions to avoid tiring out your hands/arms over long distances and hours...

Great light weight pack

Nathan Speedbelt 1.5 Lumbar Pack

Nathan Speedbelt 1.5 Lumbar Pack

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2010

I like everything about this pack - you have two bottles - hwich you can fill both with water, or one with water, one with gels. There i a nice sized pouch to throw keys and some extra food or small gloves in as well. I usually use one of these with water, and the other with gel, and then carry a nathan quickdraw as well. Perfect size, and stays in place pretty well when running on any terrain - trails, downhills, etc.

GOod gel

GU Roctane Energy Gel - 6 Pack

GU Roctane Energy Gel - 6 Pack

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2010

Nice gel - Tastes pretty good - plus a little extra kick of caffeine for an extra boost. Carried me to my marathon PR last month, so no complaints on the results side.

Nice energy boost

Clifbar Clif Shot Bloks - 18 Pack

Clifbar Clif Shot Bloks - 18 Pack

Rating for this product: 4 December 24, 2010

I like these for long runs as they are pretty easy to both carry, and break into while still on the move. Not the best tasting or easiest to eat (a little chewy), but they do offer a ton of options - caffeine, extra salt, etc, which are nice for ultra distances or hot weather in the summer.

Tastes soooo good

Honey Stinger Organic Energy Chews - 12 Pack

Honey Stinger Organic Energy Chews - 12 Pack

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2010

Love the taste of these - like a gummy bear, but actually good for you. they are totally weather tolerant too - Dont freeze in my pack skiing and dont melt on hot summer days. Easy on the stomach during long runs.

Great gel

Honey Stinger Energy Gel - 24 Pack

Honey Stinger Energy Gel - 24 Pack

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2010

These carried me to the finish the Leadville 100 run this past year. Great tasting, easy to eat, even after eating them straight for 24 hours. My only gripe is that there is not a gel with caffeine yet...Even so - Great tasting - would recommend them over everything else.

Best tasting energy bar

Honey Stinger Energy Bar - 15 Pack

Honey Stinger Energy Bar - 15 Pack

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2010

Having tried nearly everything else on the market - and sort of tolerating the taste - these are finally an energy bar that just tastes good. I can eat Cliffs or Powerbars, but these taste better, and do a pretty good job of filling me up as either a snack or pre/post workout.

Great for quick snacks

Honey Stinger Stinger Waffle - 16 Pack

Honey Stinger Stinger Waffle - 16 Pack

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2010

I tried these shortly after they came out and love them - What I like best is that they pack some calories but seem to stick in your stomach for a while without feeling heavy. I break into one before a long run and they seem to last longer than having gels, but sit better in my stomach than a lot of bars. Great tasting too.

Great lightweight trail shoe

New Balance 101 Trail Run Shoe - Men's

New Balance 101 Trail Run Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 20, 2010

I have trained in the NB100s for a while, and was waiting for the 101s. they seem to have improved the fit with the 101, especially the back of the heel pocket which always was tough on the achilles previously. I still am breaking through the shoe after high mileage on the outside of the foot, but its better than with the 100s. Overall, fits true to size, and has great traction on the trails. My favorite trail shoe currently. I would not recommend it for runners looking for a cushioned ride though. Definitely a minimalist shoe.

Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket - Men's

October 14, 2010

I was looking for something similar, and got this jacket last year. Used it for everything - hiking, bc skiing, resort skiing, around town, snowshoeing, etc. the pit zips do a great job from a venting perspective - its a longer jacket as well, so the coverage is good. I am 6'1" as well, and use the large- its roomy for layers underneath, but not too big. the hood is helmet compatible.

Great layer for cold days

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 13, 2010

This is a great piece to wear on those bitterly cold days underneath a shell for added warmth. its nice as a standalone around town as well. adds so much warmth for such a compact size. I think thats my favorite thing about this- it adds a ton of warmth, but doesnt add bulk when you are wearing it, or if you throw it into your pack.

Great all mountain ski

Salomon Shogun Ski

Salomon Shogun Ski

Rating for this product: 5 October 13, 2010

This is a great ski for all uses. You can rip through pow and mixed snow, but it still performs great and can carve on hardpack like a race ski. Hard to explain, but the ski just feels really springy and playful under foot- maybe the bamboo or just some other aspect of the construction, but it makes the ski seem really fun.

CW-X Stabilyx 3/4 Length Tight - Men's

CW-X Stabilyx 3/4 Length Tight - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 13, 2010

These tights are a great baselayer - they keep you warm, and offer a good level of compression. I really like the 3/4 length for skiing - no issues with boots. I have used these in brutally cold weather with just shell pants and stayed reasonably warm.

Love this bin

Yakima Sky Box 21 Cargo Box

Yakima Sky Box 21 Cargo Box

Rating for this product: 5 October 13, 2010

This bin is great. I can keep the full quiver of skis in it, have easy access from both sides. In the summer, I can store all of my camping gear to not take up the space in my xterra if I need more room. I can easily carry 8 pair of skis in the bin. I have used it for four years now without issue.

MSR Denali Evo Snowshoe Flotation Tails - 6in

Rating for this product: 4 October 13, 2010

these make a big difference in deep snow. the float really helps. love the fact that they are really easy to attach, and dont add much weight. i have actually started just keeping them on all the time as you can usually use extra float where I snowshoe.

great lightweight trail shoe

New Balance 100 Trail Running Shoe - Men's

New Balance 100 Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 13, 2010

this shoe is great if you like a light weight show for moving fast on the trails. I have tried other light weight shoes, and what I really like about the MT100 is that the forefoot is protected from sharp objects you often step on - rocks, etc. i have run trail marathons, ultras, etc, all in these shoes with no issues. i notice a bunch of folks have complained about the ankle/heel pocket - I havent had any issues, but see where you could.

New Balance 905 Trail Running Shoe - Men's

New Balance 905 Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 13, 2010

not sure why these are listed under "trail shoes". I consider them more of a lightweight road shoe - nice for tempo work, etc. not really great from a traction standpoint for trails though.

Atomic Atlas Ski

Rating for this product: 5 October 12, 2010

Skied these at Powder Mountain last year for 4 days. They are amazing. Easily blast through everything from chop to deep pow, and can still carve when having to get around on hardpack. Really stable ski at speed.

Awesome multipurpose jacket

Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 12, 2010

Great jacket for a variety of sports. I use this skiing regularly - It isnt meant for skiing, but works really well. The only gripe is that the pockets are not made for a skiing jacket. Its paper thin, lightweight, waterproof, and windproof. For winter weather, make sure to layer under.

Great Filter

MSR HyperFlow Microfilter

MSR HyperFlow Microfilter

Rating for this product: 5 October 12, 2010

I carry this filter with me on hikes and long trail runs. It is an easy to carry size when weight is at a premium. I haven't experienced any of issues others describe and have been using reliably for two years. It take a little while to get used to the process, but your speed with the filter improves with time. My only gripe is that there isnt an adapter that fits to a camelbak opening.
