ExOfficio Give-N-Go Boxer Brief - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2010

There are 107 reviews for these boxers for a good reason. They are the most comfortable boxers I've ever worn and once you try them you'll never want to go back to your Hanes. They dry in no time, wick moisture, prevent chafing- good for hiking or everyday. A little on the pricey side but they are most definitely worth it.

Stoic Bombshell Jacket - Men's

November 30, 2010

I can't comment on this year's model, but last year the powder skirt had 2 snaps to attach to your pants, one on the back left and one on the back right. I would assume they didn't change it, but who knows.

SmartWool PhD Running Ultra Light Micro Sock

SmartWool PhD Running Ultra Light Micro Sock

Rating for this product: 5 September 17, 2010

First off, these are the best socks I've ever worn. They are extremely comfortable, manage moisture well and I can wear them for a week straight before they need to be washed. I wear them for working out, running, hiking and around town. Second, if you are a typical college student, don't buy these (or Smartwool in general) because you will be poor. You won't really be satisfied with any other sock so you'll be screwed. I'm only kidding though so don't listen to my stupid review and buy some already.

Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Jacket - Men's

May 15, 2010

On the MH website, it says the back length is 30". I dunno if that's on a large or not. I have the medium and I'm 6 foot 190ish lbs and it comes down to about ~1.5 inches above the bottom of my butt. Not quite as long as the Cohesion in large (similar dimensions), but close if that gives you any kind of reference point.

Very Nice Jacket

Mountain Hardwear Synchro Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 20, 2010

This is a good looking jacket. It doesn't look super outdoor tech dork and that's a good change from many of the choices in jackets out there. The fit is athletic, slim and stretchy which could be a good and bad thing depending on your body type. It's true, the length is fairly short so your back and sometimes stomach can get exposed leading to some drafts, but the cut of the jacket is intended for a climbing harness so you can't blame it. Very warm for it's weight and with a 100 weight fleece underneath, is good to around freezing temperatures. I'm 6' 190 lbs and got a large and it fits pretty well minus the shortness. Kind of like windstopper, the conduit softshell isn't the most breathable, but unzip the pockets and they vent well. For a reference, I've attached a picture of me wearing the jacket so you can see how it fits. Overall, this is a versatile piece which I'm very happy with.

Norrøna Falketind Gore-Tex Paclite Jacket - Men's

March 17, 2010

I was wondering if anyone knows if I could fit in the medium? I'm looking for mostly a 3 season shell for backpacking that I could put maybe a fleece at most under, so close fit. I'm 6' and around 185. I kind of have monkey arms so sleeve length might be a problem. Any help is appreciated guys!

Bombshell

Stoic Bombshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 4, 2010

I really like this jacket a lot, but it could be better. First of all, I am 6' even, 190 lbs and got a large in black.

The things I like: the fit looks great although it is tight across my back and elbows when i bend them. Probably should have gone with a XL. Good hood, nice zippers (albeit the color), wrist gaiters, really burly fabric. Light for how strong the material seems. Really waterproof and the DWR is pretty good. Construction seems to be of great quality, but the draw cords need to be beefed up.

The things that bug me: For taller individuals, it isn't long enough. When I sit down to strap in my snowboard, my back/coin slot is immediately frozen and I don't sag or anything. The powderskirt is kind of tight and again not low enough. Also, if you use a pack, the pockets might not be high enough. Oh, and I've never used the arm pocket.

Overall, good jacket that could be great if a few changes were made.

Ridge 2 Footprint

Kelty Ridge 2 Footprint

Kelty Ridge 2 Footprint

Rating for this product: 3 February 17, 2010

This footprint is ok and does its job. First of all, it covers most of the floor of the tent besides the edges which is ok. Second of all, like Michael Wellman said, it has 4 buckles that could in theory be used to pitch the tent lighter using just the fly but they don't match up to the fly. It's annoying and looking back I would have probably just purchased a lightweight tarp and cut my own footprint to also include the vestibules...oh well.

Mountain Hardwear Jalapeno Glove

Mountain Hardwear Jalapeno Glove

Rating for this product: 3 January 21, 2010

I got these gloves when they were on sale and was initially excited because I've mostly owned cheap gloves that got wet before the day was over. These definitely kept my hands dry, but overall they just aren't that warm. Granted it was between 5 and 15 degrees when I was snowboarding, but I also had liners on. If you were winter camping and shoveling snow and what not they would probably do a pretty good job. The gauntlet on these things are huge but I like them; not too sure about the durability of the drawstring deal but we'll see. Overall, I like them for what it's worth, but unsure if I would buy again.

The North Face XTC Lightweight Tight - Men's

The North Face XTC Lightweight Tight - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 21, 2010

I really like these tights. They are really warm for how thin they are and worn under shell pants I was warm and dry in 15 degree weather until the wind kicked up on the lift, but I suppose my shell is supposed to keep wind at bay :/ They seem to fit me pretty well, not super tight and not loose. For reference I'm 6' 190 lbs and got a medium. They also make pretty good sleep bottoms for cold houses and sleeping bags! Only complaint is that they seem to be pilling a bit in a few places, but nothing major.

The North Face Nimble Zip Shirt - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 January 21, 2010

I bought this shirt for my girlfriend, and she loves it! She says its perfect for running in cooler weather. She even wore it as a base layer when we went snowboarding a couple weeks ago. Definitely a good buy. The only thing is, it runs a little big. She's 5'4", 120lbs and has an XS.

R2

Patagonia R2 Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 13, 2010

I really like this fleece. The Polartec Pro fuzz is super soft, not as high or warm as a MH Monkey Man but more breathable and versatile. If you're out in the wind on a chilly day you'll definitely feel it, but that's not this jacket's forte'. Alone, it's good for about 50*F. I took it snowboarding and wore a thermal, R2 and Stoic Bombshell (non-insulated) and was warm in 10 degrees. It regulates your body temperature like something out of NASA. The fit is on the slim side so if you're between sizes you might want to size up. For a reference point, in this picture I'm wearing a large and I'm 6', 190. I could put the medium on, but the large was more practical.

Stoic Bombshell Jacket - Men's

I talked to Backcountry a couple of days ago and they said they'd be having a new color coming in 2-3 weeks so I assume it's that gray color. I agree, the gray looks much better.

Awesome Shell

Mountain Hardwear Escape Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Escape Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 29, 2009

Love the jacket. It's fairly light and runs true to size if you wear layers underneath. I'm 6' and 190 lbs and the Medium fit perfectly with plenty of room to layer underneath. Took an absolutely torrential downpour like a champ. Some of the hardest rain I've ever seen and kept my upper body 100% dry. Also can be used for snowboarding and with a base layer and thin sweatshirt kept me warm in 15* F. Buy this.

Mountain Hardwear Escape Jacket - Men's

December 27, 2008

Does anyone know the back length of a Medium or Large? I have the Synchro jacket in a large and I have a problem with it coming up in the back all the time. I'm 6' tall about 185 pounds and I'm debating whether to get the Escape or the Exposure II for snowboarding/casual shell. Thanks, Will.
