Smith Knowledge OTG Turbo Fan Series Goggles

Smith Knowledge OTG Turbo Fan Series Goggles

Rating for this product: 3 December 20, 2011

I bought these as Over The Glasses goggles for my wife, who has a fairly small head and glasses that are fairly small as well. She has not yet skied in them, but the clearance between the glasses and the frame of the goggles is very tight. The goggles actually do fit the glasses inside, but there is simply not a bit of extra clearance around the glasses. The goggle straps are also not large enough to accommodate a ski helmet... I will be purchasing an extension strap in order to use these goggles (We never ski without a helmet anymore...). The turbo fan is supposed to eliminate fog buildup (which is why I bought the goggles in the first place...). Time will tell on these goggles, but my first impression prior to actual use is that they are simply not large enough to be classified as OTG.

This Shirt Rocks!

Icebreaker SuperFine 200 Tech T Icebreaker Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker SuperFine 200 Tech T Icebreaker Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 2, 2011

I have become a GIANT fan of merino wool apparel in general and Icebreaker products in particular. After getting a long sleeve base layer from Icebreaker (through Backcountry of course!) I was sold. This Superfine 200 Tech T shirt is another fantastic Icebreaker product. It is athletic cut, but not body hugging like a base layer, and therefore it is perfect as an outer layer. It is fine enough that there is absolutely no scratchiness, but substantial enough to weather some significant wear. I really like the look of the shirt as well! It is great for cool and warm weather hiking, and just a great shirt to wear around the house and about the town. I can unequivocally rate this as a must have!

Great boot - runs small

Sierra Designs Fireside Down Bootie Slipper - Women's

Sierra Designs Fireside Down Bootie Slipper - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 December 25, 2010

Got these boots for my 83 year old mother who always has cold feet. The boots are light and comfortable and quite warm. My mother couldn't have been happier with them, but they were slightly small. I exchanged them with the next larger size, and Backcountry's process for returns works like a champ.

The return does cost money however... $6.99. An easy process, but I like the free return policy of Amazon better ;-)

Good Warm Weather Compression Shirt

CW-X Ventilator Web Top - Short-Sleeve - Men's

CW-X Ventilator Web Top - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 14, 2010

This is my first CW-X running shirt and I like it a lot. It is expensive though. I have liked the CW-X running tights enough that I was willing to give the targeted compression shirt a try. I am glad that I did, because it does a great job of wicking away sweat and keeping me cool while I run. I sweat very heavily when running in warm weather and this top kept me almost dry after 8 - 10 mile runs in humid weather. The shirt has targeted compression bands that are meant to keep posture correct - in effect pulling the shoulders back. I found this to be a nice feature on long runs - especially towards the end when my running form tends to degrade a bit.

They also have silver threads woven into the material to prevent stink build up over time... I haven't had this shirt long enough to really tell if that works as well as the other shirt benefits so that feature is still a wait-and-see for me.

Again, they are expensive. Even so, I highly recommend them.

Excellent Warm Weather Running Shorts

CW-X Stabilyx Ventilator Short - Men's

CW-X Stabilyx Ventilator Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 14, 2010

I have used the ankle length CW-X running tights for the past year and have loved them. These Stabilyx Ventilator Shorts are just as good. They provide a nice compression fit and wick away moisture very well. I sweat very heavily when I run, and these shorts keep me cool - if not completely dry. I have other running shorts that are a loose fit, and I can tell a real difference with the targeted compression of the CW-X shorts.

They are expensive, but I highly recommend them.

CW-X Pro Tights - Men's

December 18, 2008

I'm 5'9" tall and weigh about 180 lbs. I have a 29" inseam, about 40" at hips and about 35-36" waist. Pretty thick thighs. What size should I get? Usually I need a large in bicycling cloths - or even an extra large for some brands...
