La Sportiva Trango Extreme Evo Light GTX - Men's

La Sportiva Trango Extreme Evo Light GTX - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 17, 2008

This is my first pair of mountaineering boots. I wear a size 9.5 - 10 US and my foot is pretty narrow. I bought a size 43/US 10. So far I've done some ice climbing in them and hiked several miles to do some mountains and steep couloirs. Not only are these boots very light, but there are EXTREMELY comfortable. I think they are more comfy to hike in then my Vasque hiking boots. Haven't tried these in really cold temps yet, but waterproofness/breathability is excellent. Am really happy with these boots!

Black Diamond Camalot C4's

Black Diamond Camalot C4's

Rating for this product: 5 May 30, 2005

The new Black Diamond Camalot design solves the weight issue of the last model. I've used this cam on the North Chimney route of Castleton as well as several off widths. I love the smooth action and the added direct clip loop in a cam that is easy to place with one hand when sketched out. Get these cams you won't regret it and you'll feel confident climbing above it.

Petzl Tikka Plus Headlamp

Petzl Tikka Plus Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 October 5, 2004

There's nothing bad I can say about this headlamp. Great for around the campsite, bouldering, or a hike through the woods. The tilt function is a welcome addition to LED headlamps. If you only own one headlamp, make it this one. If you own two, get the Myo 5.

My best friend

Black Diamond Camalot #2

Black Diamond Camalot #2

Rating for this product: 5 October 5, 2004

The #2 is my most used cam. It is the perfect size for handcracks. Yeah, BD's are a little heavier than other cams, but the smooth action and safety of the double axle more than makes up for it.

very satisfied

I did some research before buying this pad since it was my first. I looked at weight, dimensions, features, and of course price. This pad stood above the rest in all catagories. I got it at a sale price and free shipping using BackcountryStore.com and recieved it very quickly. The pad performs excellent. I also appreciate how it sits lower on the shoulders than most pads, convienent for overgrown trails and bushwacking. The taco folding style is safer, just remember to store it unfolded.
