Affordable, dry, warm

Columbia Bugaboo Mid Weight Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Columbia Bugaboo Mid Weight Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 7, 2009

Overall this base layer fits the bill nicely. The mid weight keeps you at a good temp for the cold days layered with sweater and parka and is great by itself with a softshell on the 40deg+ days. The thumb loops are handy for keeping your sleeves down when layering up. I think the arms could taper for a tighter fit towards the wrist, otherwise it is a great fit for a great price.

Snug, light, comfort

SmartWool Training Beanie

SmartWool Training Beanie

Rating for this product: 4 January 7, 2009

The hat fits quite snug and I wear a 7 1/8" baseball hat. It is very light weight and thin, so it could easily be worn under a helmet. I had trouble keeping it down completely over my ears (ref relatively small/med head size above), which left me a bit cold skiing in 20deg weather in Ohio (humid and cold). On the warmer days it performs very well and is very comfortable. It stays dry and is not itchy in the slightest. Good price for the high quality wool you get.

Dry, fit

SmartWool Ski Sock - Medium

SmartWool Ski Sock - Medium

Rating for this product: 5 January 7, 2009

These are my first ski socks. Super comfortable snug fit. Feet stay dry in all conditions (skiied during artificial snow making, natural snow and rain). For days colder than 20deg I would opt for some warmer socks.
