Armada JJ Ski

October 20, 2009

Easily 185. Rocker + twin tip means it will ski quite a bit shorter than nominal length.

Line Prophet 90 Alpine Ski

March 16, 2009

I'm a 5'10" 195 ski instructor and I ski the 172s which I love, but if I did it over again I would get the 179s or the 186s. But at your weight I think the 172s would be fine. I am similar to you in that I took a long layoff from skiing (but learned when I was three) to snowboard exclusively. Just got back into two-planking last season. I like how the Prophets feel very snowboardy (if that makes any sense).

Black Diamond Traverse Ski Poles

Black Diamond Traverse Ski Poles

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2009

Great poles, just make sure you read the instructions regarding the baskets. I didn't put them on right and lost one the first day. I did it right the next time and they are fine. I alpine and tele, this pole rocks for both. If a set of regular alpine poles costs the same, why wouldn't you buy the adjustable? Poles do not lose their length setting even when planting aggressively. Very pleased

Line Prophet 90 Alpine Ski

Line Prophet 90 Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 January 15, 2009

For all snow conditions (and I mean ALL), there isn't a better ski than the Prophet 90. Maybe you could argue for others, but the price of the Lines will put them over the top in my opinion. I'm a 5'10" 195 instructor in CO and I ski the 172s. I would get better performance at speed with the 179s but I think that I need the shorter skis for turn shape variability and bump performance. That doesn't mean I can't open it up on a steep groomer, though. I've had over 40 days so far this season on them and they feel like an extension of my body at this point. From wedging with some level 2 kids to the steep and deep they literally do it all. Just be prepared for all the "what kind of skis are those?" questions on the lift.
