Black Diamond Ascension Custom STS Climbing Skins
February 11, 2009
This is a good way to store your skins in your pack without them sticking to everything. ...in fact, I think it's the only way. Note these are the same pre-fit skins shown on this page ...the tip loop looks different simply because I got the wrong size and had to trim the length old-school style.

Taking off the skins before heading back down
Black Diamond Ascension Custom STS Climbing Skins
February 11, 2009
This is what it looks like when you pull the skins off your skis. It makes a wicked cool ripping sound! Be careful not to let the sticky side of the skin. come in contact with the dirt before stowing them!

Black Diamond Tripod Bivy Bag
November 8, 2010
If you really want to keep your backpack, boots, etc. inside your tent, then a Bivy is not for you. Look instead a small tent: http://www.backcountry.com/4-season-tents. I prefer a lightweight 2-man tent to keep my gear in. BTW, "2-man tent" can usually be interpreted as "sleeps two very small men who like each other a lot without their gear". Hence, you'll want a 2 man just to fit one person (you) and your gear.

Black Diamond Ascension Custom STS Climbing Skins
February 11, 2009
They are just pre-cut for length. You'll still likely have to trim the skins to fit the width of your ski. The product description is inaccurate when it claims you can get up and running "without any knife time". However, trimming skins is not really that hard. Black Diamond includes some trimming instructions with these skins.
