Atlas Run Snowshoe

Atlas Run Snowshoe

Rating for this product: 5 July 27, 2010

My wife gave me these shoes last year and I really like them. They are hugely better than the MSR shoes I had been running in. After a full season of 8-12 miles, 2-3 days a week on the trails in central Colorado carrying my 200lbs, plus a pack (never know when you might end up staying in the woods overnight) they do show some wear. The opening where the toe pivots is slightly frayed where my shoes rub (I have really wide feet) and the teeth on the crampons are pretty rounded from hitting the rocks under the snow, but I have no doubt they are good for this coming season and then some. My only real gripe is under certain conditions the crampons will accumulate ice balls right under my feet and I have to stop and chip them out. Otherwise, it's like running with baseballs under my shoes - fortunately it doesn't happen very often. Maybe teflon coating?
Overall great shoes and I strongly recommend them if you want to keep playing when the snow starts.
