Big Agnes Big House Big Room

Big Agnes Big House Tent: 6-Person 3-Season

Big Agnes Big House Tent: 6-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 April 26, 2011

Absolutely love this tent. Now that we have kiddos and don't backpack anymore, we needed a family tent and wanted room for luxury. Two cots, two kids on sleeping pads, and room for all gear, and tons of room to stand up and change. Holds up well in wind and rain (no leaks under fly, despite whipping winds), cold nights in Yellowstone were warm enough, hot nights in southern Utah were cool enough. Easy to set up. Couldn't be happier.

Warm, dry, and stylin'

Spyder Circuit Athletic Pant - Girls'

Spyder Circuit Athletic Pant - Girls'

Rating for this product: 5 February 8, 2011

Daughter is 10.
She rips it at Snowbird from bluebird days to epic storm riding and says they are warm and dry and never too hot.
She got the pink - hot pink. They match her Roxy skis.
Imagine her joy!
And I love knowing I can stay all day no matter the weather and she'll be comfortable. Highly recommended.

Mom says they're warm

The North Face Denali Thermal Glove - Women's

The North Face Denali Thermal Glove - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 December 27, 2010

Mom suffers from Reynaud's syndrome (extremely cold fingers) and has never had gloves that keep her warm enough. She lives in Kansas City, which has wicked cold because of wind and humidity. She has called twice to tell me how much she loves these gloves that I bought for her. Mom endorsed - what more do you need?

My take - super soft, and quite warm for a fleece glove. Keep in mind - it's a fleece glove - no wind stopper, no moisture resistance. Probably great for ladies around town, but I would recommend a mitt shell over these for any real outdoor activity like skiing, sledding, snowball fighting.

Thin and Warm

SmartWool PhD Ski Ultra Light Sock

SmartWool PhD Ski Ultra Light Sock

Rating for this product: 5 December 27, 2010

Exactly what a ski sock should be - thin, dry, warm, stink resistant, non snagging. Nice touch: they stich the abbreviation for the size into the cuff, so my LGs can be distinguished from my wife's MDs.

Lange RX 120 Ski Boot - Men's

Lange RX 120 Ski Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 21, 2010

These boots almost read my mind - the slightest thought of initiating and these boots are there. Super tight heel, so no jumping forward if you catch some boot drag through deeper snow. Super stable at speed (no surprise, it's a Lange) and quick and responsive through bumps and steeps. Love the 100 width and little extra room for the toes.

Dynastar PX 12 Lifter Wide Ski Binding

Dynastar PX 12 Lifter Wide Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 5 November 19, 2010

I've put these through the ringer - big dumps, hard groomers, pounding bumps, floating pow, big pucker-factor drops. Great feel for my ski (Mythic) and never let go when they shouldn't. Liked them so much, I bought their big brother to go on my Prophet 130s.

Big and Bad Ass

Line Prophet 130 Ski

Line Prophet 130 Ski

Rating for this product: 5 November 19, 2010

Wow. These are big. And bad. And fast. These have a pretty traditional shape - none of that elf-shoe looking rocker going on here. If you know how to drive a big ski and appreciate the elegance and control of putting a ski up on edge and laying down rails wherever you are (no schmearing this one), you'll love this ski. It's wide, so not super fast edge to edge (be patient!), but it floats like nothing else and it is really responsive. And if you are part of the Air Force hucking off whatever - forget about scoping out your landing. You're bringing many square feet of landing pad with you, so you can land anything.

Bombshell is Bombproof

Stoic Bombshell Insulated Jacket - Men's

Stoic Bombshell Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 19, 2010

Love this jacket. After 15 years in a goretex shell and layers, I hesitantly opted for insulated and was worried I'd overheat. I'm glad I was wrong - this jacket is super toasty, super wind and waterproof, and keeps out the pow. It also easily and quickly dumps heat through an easy front zipper and pit zips. Great pockets - love the extra one on the sleeve for a pass or for a pack of gum the share on the Tram. Hood fits over my Giro helmet for lift riding on wicked windy days and still zips up over my chin. It is a Stoic, so expect a trim fit and consider sizing up.
