Lafuma Kokta Boot - Women's

January 1, 2011

I just traveled by flight wearing these. They are a pain in the arse to take off and lace back up when going through security. They are, however, light enough to carry in a bag or suitcase without feeling over-burdened. They take up a hell of a lot of space though (they're thick and firm, so they don't fold/crumble/squish well). In the end, I just decided to deal with the removing and re-lacing at airport security.

Best boots I've ever had.

Lafuma Kokta Boot - Women's

Lafuma Kokta Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 29, 2010

These boots are SUPER warm, SUPER waterproof, and so attractive. I get positive comments nearly EVERY time I wear them. At least once every handful of times I wear them, a stranger stops me and asks me where I bought them or what brand they are. They also have GREAT grip on the bottom, so you're ahead of the game when walking on icy paths. You absolutely need to order a half-size up; I wear an 8.5-9 depending on the brand, but I am a 9.5 in these (if you intend on wearing only thick, wool socks with these, you'll probably need a full size up). They are best with leggings or skinny jeans, but if you know how to wrap your flares/bell bottoms around your calf, these boots fit well over them too. The lacing allows you to wear them as tight or as loose as you'd like. The arch support is impressive too. The only downside to these is that it takes a long time to lace them up/take them off, and if you have an impatient boyfriend, you'll never hear the end of it.

Not as rubbery as you'd think.

Columbia Rubber Ducky Deux Rain Jacket - Women's

Columbia Rubber Ducky Deux Rain Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 September 14, 2010

When I ordered this I imagined it would be like the bright yellow latex-y coats I wore as a little girl. Not so at all. It's surprisingly soft, and doesn't interfere too much with bending at the elbow. It is a little bit warm, though. There is no option for ventilation, so it leaves you wondering why you don't just wear a shell or water resistant winter coat. I thought it'd be for warmer weather, but it'll leave you sweating for any long duration of wear. On a vanity note, the fit is completely unflattering on someone with curves (myself), and the tie slips out at the waist no matter how many times you double/triple knot it.

Waaaay too loose.

New Balance 813 Trail Running Shoe - Women's

New Balance 813 Trail Running Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 1 September 14, 2010

These were really hard to tighten when I first got them. I figured I should wait until I break them in before I dismiss them, but they just got progressively looser. I can't even take long walks in them without developing blisters from my foot sliding around inside of them. I'll tighten them until the lace holders touch and there's no more tightening ability, and still my toes will slide left and right in the toe chamber. Terrible fit.

Merrell Encore Chill Stitch Clog - Women's

My mom is totally in love with these. She is of eastern european dissent which, she argues, gives her higher standards for clogs. They look great on her too.

Great gift.

The North Face Base Camp Sandal - Men's

The North Face Base Camp Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 14, 2010

I got a pair of these for my boyfriend and he loves them. In comparison to his previous LL Bean pair (which he wore for years until he broke them), he says they are about the same in comfort, but he still believes his LL Bean pair was higher in quality. They are way better than the rocket dog ones he tried.

Still undecided

New Balance 910 GT Trail Running Shoe - Women's

New Balance 910 GT Trail Running Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 May 22, 2010

These shoes are light - which is cool, and supposedly waterproof (haven't tried them out yet) but they're really stiff. I've worn them less than 10 times, but haven't broken them in yet, so I don't know how I feel about them entirely. They don't flex very well though, as of now, which probably has a lot to do with the goretex. The toe has a really hard reinforcement on it, which will come in very handy on the trails, and the bottom doesn't allow anything on the ground to be felt. Nowhere near the arch support the 803/804/805s have that I've always been attached to. Definitely feels durable, just not positive I'm in love with the comfort.

Burton Guardian Down Jacket - Women's - 09/10

April 21, 2010

just peruse some Burton products on an image search. They tend to offer wacky patterns. Like polka dots, or pixels, multicolor stripes, different kinds of plaid, or tie dye gone haywire, etc.
