Mountain Hardwear Skyledge 3 Tent 3-Person 3-Season

Mountain Hardwear Skyledge 3 Tent 3-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 October 6, 2011

OK, according to mum's old school kitchen scales:

Inner; 720g
Fly; 560g (it stuffed quite neatly into the small bag that the pegs come in so it will pack quite compact)
Pole in bag; 540g
8 pegs; 120g

That's 1940g all up (that's 4.27lbs for you neat ol'fashion Yanks)

Give a few grams for some plastic shopping bags to keep the wet tent away from your dry trail mix and that's all I'd take. There are four guy lines provided if you have need. I suggest the "packaged weight" that is quoted sometimes is the shipping weight, labels & plastic bags & instructions & elastic bands & washing guidelines & in-use warnings included - I'm sure it adds up. The one bag that I didn't weigh, because I doubt I'd use it, doesn't explain the difference in price.

As yet only used to lie on the lounge room floor (a strenuous Test & Evaluation program here) but it will get a workout this weekend. I wouldn't try to fit 3 people in it but two proper sized males will comfortably fit without the bromance required by most 2 person tents. The crossbar allows each person to sit up without needing to shimmy towards the centre of the tent. It has four loops on the inside of the inner for a shelf & one centrally to hang a light or something. There are two pockets up high near these as well and two on each side immediately adjacent to the doors. The tub floor comes up quite high as well so there looks to be good overlap between the floor of the inner and the fly....

I think I've justified my purchase to myself adequately here.

Brunton SolarRoll Flexible Solar Panel

April 11, 2009

G'day, I've read through the comments here and its likely just a translation from American into Australian:

1. Does the Roll come with a 12V "cigarette lighter" socket?

2. One of the pages mentions that with the 14W roll you need the Controller to prevent cooking batteries. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I have used the Silva rigid charger that opens out like a book. I was able to hook up everything withease with the car socket connector. Excellent performance up until I cracked the glass cover on a bushwalk by not paying attention to how I put my pack down.

Thanks
