Edges Rip Out, Again

Salomon Threat Ski

Salomon Threat Ski

Rating for this product: 1 January 4, 2009

I got my replacement pair of skis a few weeks ago, mounted them with the same bindings, and proceeded to ski 3 strait pow days and then 4 days of aftermath. These things floated well in the semi-pow we get in the east, the best of any ski I have owned. After 3 more scattered days of skiing I was pulling these things out of the trunk and my hand scraped across something. THE EDGE RIPPED OUT IN THE EXACT SAME PLACE! AAAH! I called up backcountry's customer service again, the guy who I spoke with was wicked nice and was all apologetic and stuff even though it wasn't his fault, and made up the money I've spent mounting and remounting broken skis with 50% off towards the difference between these and the suspects. Totally satisfied. Thank you backcountry.com customer service, and sorry but I hate you salomon for making such a great ski with such a simple design flaw, aggressive skiers stay away from this ski!

Edge Durability Sucks

Salomon Threat Ski

Salomon Threat Ski

Rating for this product: 2 December 17, 2008

I got these skis off this site at the beginning of the season, put a brand new pair of marker griffons on them and I skied unlike I had ever done before, hucking 15 foot cliff-gaps, stomping 270's on to rails, and landing my cleanest 540 ever. I'm 5'7 and 150 pounds and coming onto these things from 151cm salomon 720's was a dream come true. For 4 days I thought that there was no better ski for me. However on the fourth day I was riding up the lift near the end of the day and noticed something poking out of my left ski. I checked it out at the top, and saw that edge had been RIPPED out of about 4" of the ski at the tip! I noticed that there was a seam in the edge there before where the two ends of the edge met, but somehow the edge there had been ripped out? I don't exactly nose butter boxes or anything so I don't see how it could have logically happened. I was pissed to say the least. Though i called up backcountry's customer service and they sent me a new pair pronto saying it was a defect.
Overall from what I have seen if you are going hard and are choosing between these and the suspects GET THE SUSPECTS, they're way more durable, but these give you a good amount of bang for the buck if you are careful with your skis. Thank you backcountry for awesome customer service and thanks salomon for the awesome performing ski with bad edge seam placement, maybe on the tail next time?

DAKINE Scout Short Glove - Men's

DAKINE Scout Short Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 15, 2008

I got these gloves looking for an in-between pair of gloves to wear on normal days when it wasn't cold enough to wear my gore-tex mittens nor warm enough for park gloves. I found that with the liner these gloves performed almost as well as my mittens in extremely cold temperatures, and without they perfectly served the purpose I got them for, worth the money 100%.

The quality of the speakers in these headphones is incredible, these are definitely authentic skullcandys. The white finish on mine does scratch up, but much less then i expected it to, and the scratches look badass anyway. just get this helmet!

Oakley Timber Pant - Men's

Oakley Timber Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 15, 2008

these pants are incredibly warm but also ventilate very well on warmer days due to the plethora of zippers and vents you can open up. It has more pockets than cargo pants, and has tons of steez with it's baggy fit, great pair of snowpants, definitely worth it at this 120$ price, get it before its gone.
