  • Stomping Grounds:

Homes in Truckee, California and St. Thomas, USVI.
  • Bio:

I love anything involving natural beauty with aerobic capacity or "near-death experience" danger. Other loves are photography, cooking (not escoffier style, but "de Roulet style"), home brewing excellent beer, Baroque music, gave up epee fencing, sky-diving, and motorcycling.

I love Caribbean blue-water sailing or wreck diving on Nitrox, soaring from Truckee to God knows where and back (longest flight - 7 hours), snowshoeing at altitude when it's snowing "chicken-feathers" and dead quiet, powder riding on my sweet new board, wake-boarding with my 3 boys and their girlfriends, road riding on my custom tandem with my lovely wife, mountain biking on tough single-track with a home-brew as an "end of ride reward", trail running along the Truckee River, kayaking in one of my tandem kayaks at Sand Harbor with a picnic lunch, a five minute walk from our home to Coki Beach to have morning coffee with my wife (and snorkel to find my buddies, the resident grandfather lobster and octopus), sea kayaking around the pelicans at Megans Bay, sailing with friends to the BVI's and back...that's the good stuff. I've soared as high as 18,000', jumped at night from 13,500', and submerged 822' deep into pitch black ocean at mid-day.

My life is like a perpetual "recess" at grade school, and as they say....the sky's not my limit, it's my playground!

Voile Telepro Shovel

Voile Telepro Shovel

Rating for this product: 5 November 20, 2008

My wife gave me this shovel for Christmas, probably 6 or 7 years ago. I've had other shovels that broke or chipped. This one WORKS. I always take it with me on my backpack when snowshoeing. I've even kept it in the trunk of my Subaru Sti to dig out snow in "low-clearence" situations. Highly recommended.

Use a a redundant backup for soaring

Suunto Vector Altimeter Watch

Suunto Vector Altimeter Watch

Rating for this product: 5 November 19, 2008

I use the Vector as a backup to my altimeter and GPS(s) in my sailplane. I've set the altimeter warning as a seconday reminder to put my gear down for landing. The altimeter is pretty darn accurate. The only downside is also its' upside...it's a little big, so it's easy to read! Would definitely buy it again...and I have a Suunto Dive watch as well. Good products.
