K2 ObSETHed Alpine Ski

November 26, 2008

The Mantra and ObSethed are quite different. I think you should be benchmarking the Gotama to the ObSethed for a better comparison. I ski last years Seth at Crystal everyday and love it. It is a little on the softer side and I think the ObSethed will feel even softer due to increase rocker in the tip and tail. The Mantra is a freight train on the groomers so you'd be sacrificing there...but with the rocker and the width...the ObSethed will be loads better in soft snow. At the end of the day it really depends on how much you care about performance on hard pack...if it matters alot, I'd look at the Gotama or Mantra. If you want to dominate the pow...go with the ObSETHed.

Tecnica Agent 95 Ski Boot - Men's

November 19, 2008

Do they fit your feet? You might want to try them in a shop before you order them. These are relativly soft boot, not that there is anything wrong with that, but people who buy these should be intentionally looking for a boot that isnt too stiff.

Volkl Bridge Alpine Ski

November 19, 2008

Really depends on your definition of all-around. If you're looking at a 50% park ski both the ARV and the Bridge would be good, but both are a little narrow to be great in powder. If you split your time outside the park between groomers and powder you're going in the right direction. If most of your time outside the park is spent searching for powder or in the backcountry...you might want to step up to the Gotama (unless you ride a lot of pipe). I've never skied a Scott ski so I really can't comment. I would probably give the nod to Volkl for all around performance, but Armada's are great in the park. I ski the pipe cleaners, but the only park riding I do is on a freshly groomed halfpipe...and honestly...that's a rarity.

So F'ing Good

Marker Duke Ski Binding

Marker Duke Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 5 November 13, 2008

Prior to the Duke, the 916 was the undisputed "king of bindings" but now the tide has changed. I've got the Duke's on my 07/08 Seths and they work awesome for everything. I ski the resort about 50 days a year and toured in them about 10 days last year. They are perfect for what I do. I can't imagine skiing any other AT binding (until Salomon comes out with theirs...if that ever happens).

Armada Pipe Cleaner Alpine Ski

Armada Pipe Cleaner Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 November 13, 2008

I'm an ex-racer who doesnt ski the park much, but when I am in Whistler or another place with a nice park I always take a few runs. I really like taking smooth straight airs in the pipe and these skis are perfect for that. They are race room constructed, not too soft, and arc like a GS ski. I think it would be sad to see these get destroyed on a rail, so if you're thinking about getting them I would suggest using for groomers, pipe, and tables.

Just what I needed

Marker Duke Ski Binding

Marker Duke Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 5 November 13, 2008

I ski 50 days at the resort and resort and in resort sidecountry. Last year was my first year going AT. Went about 10 times. I prefered these on 07/08 K2 Seth's over my 06/07 Volkl Gotamas with Salomon 916s in every condition. If you care about weight I would disregard my review. If you're a 916 loyalist like myself...give these a try!
