This picture is just to show how sheer the piqué inserts are, with the hoodie being held up to the sun.

I know your question is old here, but thought I'd answer anyway. I'm also 5'2", ~120lbs and I have the half-zip version of this in a Small.

Columbia Eddyline Baseball Hat - Women's

Not sure what age child you are looking to buy this hat for, but it is adjustable. While I am an adult, I would say I'm on the small side (~21" circ.), and find that the adjustable velcro strap is enough for me.

Columbia Paris Jacket - Women's

This jacket is definitely waterproof. I wore it while skiing in VT with some really wet snow, as well as around town while snowing. The snow beaded up on the jacket and did not soak in. Re: buttons, they are plastic buttons with snaps on the other side of the fabric, and a zipper underneath.

The North Face Momentum Fleece Jacket - Women's
December 2, 2009
I'd go for the XS as well. I'm 5'2", and 115-120lbs. According to TNF size charts, my chest puts me at a Small+ and my waist puts me at an XS. I prefer the fit of the XS. I'd go XS if she prefers a slimmer fitting jacket, as I do - I think the S would be loose on her. Good luck!

To the people who said the fit is baggy... how do your own body measurements compare to the size chart measurements for the size you purchased? Would going down a size make it fit any slimmer?
