The North Face Futaleufu Sandal - Men's

The North Face Futaleufu Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 August 5, 2009

Bought these recently and have used them for kayaking and casual wear. While I like the design, the straps cut into my feet and have even given my cuts and serious irritation. The only way to stop that is to pad the straps (which I did) but then the fit just wasn't the same. I had such high hopes for these as I am a big TNF fan but these were a waste, for me at least.

Present for my girl

Sierra Designs Cyclone Eco Jacket - Women's

Sierra Designs Cyclone Eco Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 August 3, 2009

Got the crimson colour for my girlfriend as a lightweight jacket for hiking and casual wear. She loves it and wears it all the time now. And its compressible enough that she just sticks it in the side pocket of her pack. Keeps out wind, water and all the elements and works great with a fleece underneath.

The North Face Nemesis Crew - Short-Sleeve - Men's

I would go for the large. I have the medium and it has a very athletic fit. If you want the loose fit go up a size and get the large.

Great jacket

Backcountry.com Shift Softshell Jacket - Men's

Backcountry.com Shift Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 July 22, 2009

Got this on SAC, great deal, to replace my stolen Apex shell. It's my first BC.com product and it has definitely made me confident in their products. This is really a great jacket. It works well for casual wear as well as the ski slopes. The Polartec PowerShield works perfectly. Its essentially windproof and the strings at the bottom help to keep you warm all round. Good deal.

Solid trail running shoe.

The North Face Rucky Chucky GTX XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

The North Face Rucky Chucky GTX XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 22, 2009

Got this shoe a few weeks ago after my TNF Gamble shoes started to fall apart and have had no problems so far. Spent a whole day of walking in warm weather and my feet were still somewhat cool and not sweaty. I have had problems with previous Gore-Tex products being completely non-breathable but these are great. I have been running countless days training on muddy, wet trails and the build quality has really shown. These are one of the best set of trail running shoes I have ever owned. I will buy North Face shoes again.

High quality layering.

The North Face TKA 100 Glacier 1/4 Zip Fleece Pullover - Men's

The North Face TKA 100 Glacier 1/4 Zip Fleece Pullover - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 24, 2009

This shirt is great for layering. I am 6'1" and 180 and the large is a perfect fit. I wore it everyday for a season of skiing as a midlayer and during hiking as a perfect fleece.. I works well in all settings as it has the perfect mix of casual wear and technical clothing. It is well built too as I have had it grazed on trees and rocks and it has suffered damage so far.. Top quality from The North Face as always.

This jacket is one of the most versatile jackets I own. It is lightweight, surprisingly water resistant and highly breathable. I have used this jacket for skiing, hiking, biking and even casual wear to restaurants. It is a perfect all round jacket and is great for layering.

Water doesn't stand a chance

Asolo Fugitive GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Asolo Fugitive GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 8, 2009

The Fugitive GTX is a great hiking boot. I have owned this pair for 5 months now and hiked in every condition: snow, ice, mud, rain and blistering sun, with no complaints. The Gore-Tex, while being completely invincible in 2 feet of snow and puddles and streams causes the boots to heat up on those warmer days (nothing a light pair of hiking socks can't see to). This boots are very comfortable on all trails, and give great ankle support on both ascent and descent. I wear these boots to class almost everyday and around my town and they provide just as much comfort on tarmac as they do on rocky terrain. A solid purchase.

Great all rounder

The North Face Gamble Mid GTX XCR Multisport Shoe - Men's

The North Face Gamble Mid GTX XCR Multisport Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 8, 2009

The North Face Gamble is a fantastic shoe for every situation. I have used them on light hikes and late night rainy runs across campus through mud and puddles. This is a very comfortable shoe and I also wear it casually. The XCR makes it completely waterproof and combined with the mesh covering, the Gamble is completely breathable and well suited to warmer weather. I have worn these in a variety of conditions and they have never let me down. The mesh is starting to tear from excessive use and even when they fall apart from use I will be buying another pair of the Gamle to replace these excellent shoes.

Flash is an appropriate word

SOG Knives Flash II Knife

SOG Knives Flash II Knife

Rating for this product: 5 April 8, 2009

The Flash II is a great knife. The spring assisted opening is lightning fast and great for when you need it in a hurry/want to impress your buddies. The blade is incredibly sharp and very solidly constructed. I have used this knife consistently for many months and with proper care it is as sharp as the day it arrived at my door. The piston lock system is very secure and saved my life on an icy slope with an improvised emergency self-arrest using the Flash. All in all a fantastic blade and one that will serve me for many years to come.

Good deal

Sierra Designs Hurricane Full Zip Rain Pant - Men's

Sierra Designs Hurricane Full Zip Rain Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 April 8, 2009

Bought these on SAC for a great price. Have only used them once on an ill-fated rain adventure. The DWR coating holds up well against strong rain and the fit for me was perfect. I have 34" waist and leg and got the large size. The fabric didnt hold up too well when I slipped and fell grinding against rocks. So they aren't the hardiest constructed pants out there, but they sure get the job done well.

Oakley Wisdom Goggle

Oakley Wisdom Goggle

Rating for this product: 4 April 8, 2009

Great goggle and they look pretty sweet too. Provide good visibility in most conditions even in the late afternoon. A personal favourite. Fits awkwardly on my helmet though and as a result has a tendency to slip onto my nose. Excellent optics from Oakley nonetheless.
