Scarpa Typhoon Alpine Touring Boot

August 1, 2011

Have skied the typhoons for the last 2 seasons. Very happy with them. I'm looking to replace the liners, as they're a bit packed out after 130+ days. I know I need the Intuition liners -- is there a particular one that I need to fit these boots? Any other info would help too - Thanx

K2 DarkSide Alpine Ski

July 27, 2011

Have been skiing the 181 SideStash for the past 2 seasons. Very happy with them in every way except on hard crud and ice. Wanna try the DarkSide, after hearing good things about them. Wondering if the DS will ski the same as the 181 SideStash or if I should go with the 188's. I'm 6', 185 lbs, expert skier. Thanks.

Grandoe Logan Mountaineering Glove - Men's

Grandoe Logan Mountaineering Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 December 8, 2009

Got these last season, and just returned them. They're great for days warmer than 25 - 30 F. Would be fine on colder days with a good glove liner (if you want to hassle w/that). Water repellancy (sp?) on the leather is not so great. They are lined with gore-tex, so you do stay dry - but if they do get wet, you'll feel the dampness and they get squishy. They're great for sunny days that aren't too cold - and if you don't fall or get em wet they're perfect! Am giving the BD, guide gloves a try, supposed to be warmer and waterproof.

Scarpa Typhoon Alpine Touring Boot

December 5, 2009

Got a pair of these last spring. Had them fitted nicely and after 16 or so days they feel fine after about a week+ of pain. Like the weight and snug fit, they drive my midfats nicely. Good contact with the ski and the snow. Only thing is - they're cold! Because of the break in the shell for the walk mode, they take on some water and it freezes making 'em frigid. Could you recommend a solution or a compatible boot heater/warmer. Thx.

K2 SideStash Alpine Ski

November 20, 2009

1). I'm 6', 185 lbs - I ski everything well, but don't do any jumping (bad knees). Would the Fritshi AT bindings work well on these? Afraid the Dukes will add too much weight uphill.
2). Have been happy on K2 Apache Chiefs (174cm) for 2 seasons, they're quite "turny" for a 98 underfoot ski. Should I get 174cm or the 181cm Sidestash? Does the early rise really make the ski - ski shorter? Or should I stick with 174cm since the Sidestash is a wider ski?
3). Are the K2 skins of a good quality/fit, or will BD skins work just as well.

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Plus Binding

November 9, 2008

I'm new to backcountry touring last season. Am thinking of putting these on a pair of '06, K2 Chiefs (98mm waist) - will brakes be wide enough? I'm used to a downhill setup, will this be an easier transition for me than a dynafit system? - I'll be able to use my alpine boots with these - right? Does mounting them more forward or back make a difference? I'm very aggressive on just about everything and am concerned about launching at high speed. Will be doing 75% resort and 25 BC w/80 - 100 days per season. What a ya think, are these are the bindings I need. - Thanks for your help, Dave
