I like to build things: websites, furniture, people. I relish accomplishment and love very few things as much as standing on top of something high. I don't understand why anyone would run somewhere that you can take a perfectly good bike.

Dalbello Sports Krypton Pro I.D. Ski Boot
February 17, 2009
this boot is the BOMB! now this is the right boot for you ONLY IF you foot is a narrow (it has a 98mm last) I would swap out the boot board (it comes with a hard race and a soft free ride) the ID liner is the BEST in the world and you will have the most custom liner around. you will need to go to a Dalbello dealer to get this fitted, i would recommend going with a 12 pack of good beer. IF you are looking for an AT boot and can use what you have then hold off and check out the Dalbello Virus -- this is an AT boot that is made around the Krypton mold. good luck and ski safe! Buy this boot. I've never had a boot be so comfortable and responsive at the same time. Race boots have a weird flex pattern, they seem to have a wall - Stiff, Stiff, Stiff, then bam, the cuff flexes way too much. These are sooo much more progressive and you can crank them down without your legs going to sleep. Definitely recommend these.

BPA stands for Bisphenol A, a chemical compound commonly found in plastic drink and food containers. Small amounts of BPA may leach from containers and be ingested. Naturally, there is much scientific debate regarding what levels are harmful to humans. For further discussion on BPA, check out http://www.thegreenguide.com/doc/114/bpa and http://www.cdc.gov/exposurereport/pdf/factsheet_bisphenol.pd

G3 Bonesaw
January 27, 2009
I don't own this saw, but the question intrigued me so I asked a friend who is into geology and archeology, "Which is harder, ice, bone or wood?" (You figure if bone is softer than either of those, the saw will cut bone, right?) Her answer was "It depends. Ice, which is actually a mineral, probably has a Mohs scale hardness of about 3 or 4, which means it can be scratched by say a copper coin. (I haven't tried this, but I can't imagine that a penny can't scratch ice.) But it does depend on the temperature. At a colder temperature, ice would be harder. But as for the organic things .... Oak is much harder than pine, for example, and there may actually be types of wood that can't be scratched with a penny, but pine probably can be. And the hardness of a bone also varies, depending on which bone, from what animal, the age of the animal, the diet of the animal, and so on...not really an answer, I know." Maybe there's someone out there who owns this product who has tried to cut bones with it.-- It's a catchy name - oak is 8 or 9 on mohs scale, femoral cortical bone (stiffest bone in the body) is about 10-12. It "could" cut it, but it's not designed for it. Bone saws have finer, sharper teeth and are stainless steel; this is made of much softer aluminum. I wouldn't plan on cutting dog bones[?] with it unless you want to wind up with an fairly expensive ruler.

Mountainsmith Youth Scout Backpack - 3356cu in
November 6, 2008
It's going be up to the gate agent, and how much stuff you have strapped on this bad boy. The lid has elastic straps in it, so you can really load up the top. This is not a very big bag, about the size of a 26" rollaboard. My guess is that you could get it on, or at the very least gate check it. The challenge will be getting the big external frame through security. You may want to look at a similar internal frame pack like the: Jansport Big Bear http://www.backcountry.com/store/JAN0303/JanSport-Big-Bear-6

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Men's
November 6, 2008
I'm 6'4", 42 chest, 34 waist. I wear the XL and it fits perfectly. Sleeves are long enough, and the waist of the coat hits me right at the waist (novel idea, right?). This is my favorite winter jacket, due in large part to the cut. It's also super warm, and after 8 years, has been super durable. It's money well spent.
