  • Stomping Grounds:

West Arkansas; Durango, CO; and lots of places inbetween
  • Bio:

Im a graphic design student with mass communications and christian studies minors in my fourth and final year at Ouachita Baptist University. Im from Kansas City, Missouri.

I'm not as much of an outdoor fanatic as some, but definitely more so than most. I lived in Durango, CO, in summer 2008 and worked at an outdoor adventure camp. I've been on countless backpacking trips, most in Arkansas, some in Wyoming and Colorado. I've also been snowboarding since age 13. I whitewater kayak every so often, but dont own my own equipment. I climb when I can, but not as often as I would like.

I want to go to adventuring in Alaska and other northern places someday. I like fresh ground hazelnut coffee straight black, Guiness extra stout, and smoking my pipe occasionally. I also like cold weather, rainy days, [lost of] snow, pets with personalities, Sunday comics, and sweet deals.

These are a decent, versatile pair of gloves. 4 out of 5 because of the hook and loop system to hold back the flaps is cumbersome to work.

Recently picked up this top and the Nepal as gifts for family members and tried both on right out of the packaging. Nearly immediately decided I will be buying myself one of these Luklas asap. Warm, comfy, and great looking. although I'm not crazy about the current available color choice (abyss/tahoe), they arent bad. In the picture the abyss looks black, but its closer to a navy for sure, so keep that in mind. Also, as others said, the wool does make some contact on the bottom rim (forehead and ears) but the fleece liner does well at keeping it comfy.

Backcountry.com Dreamland T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 5, 2009

I grabbed this shirt recently to have a way to rep BC when I'm not wearing any of their outerwear and cause of the sweet design and comfy fabric. I'm 6' 2" and ~160 lbs and the medium fits perfect. Slightly athletic (thinner/longer) fit, but not so much so. Def recommend this shirt if you want to rep backcountry or if you just want a sweet tee.

I'm 6' 2" as well, but I'm ~160 lbs. I got a medium and it fits perfect-- length, sleeve, chest and all. I would say just get what you normally get. Also, mine didn't really shrink and I washed it cold and dried it with low heat.

Oakley A Frame Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 November 5, 2009

Picked these up last year off of SAC for a great price. My face is medium-ish, and I wear a medium helmet and they fit great. Comfortable gaggles, indeed! Seemed like anyone I was with always asked me "why arent your goggles fogging?" as they cleaned theirs off for the fifth time before lunch. I got the black iridium lens, which is a bit dark for my liking since I carve at night whenever I can, but it works great with nearly any light during the day. Definitely not a high end lens, but the A-frames are for sure with your money if you're looking for some great performance at a reasonable price.

the goat strikes again

Backcountry.com Siphon Street Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men’s

Rating for this product: 4 October 28, 2009

This hoody is crazy comfy! I wear it nearly all the time (right now, for example). The materials are winner and the fit is great. Thumb hole/wrist cuff is a nice touch. Definitely would not have paid full price ($110) for it, but $40 off of SAC is WELL worth it. Only issues I have: only 10% wool, so wind proofing is not that great, mesh hand pockets (not a big deal, but not too desirable either), and no waist drawstring. I'm 6'1", about 160 lbs and the L fits perfect. Great fit for casual wear around, or a mid-layer technical-ish. Haven't washed it yet, so I can't say how that how goes. All-in-all, another great piece from BC.
