Amazing Mid-Layer

Millet Prolighter Thermal Hooded Top - Men's

Millet Prolighter Thermal Hooded Top - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 12, 2012

Love the shirt way better than Patagonia R1 because the fit is more roomy and the shell seems to be more durable...less likely to snag on anything. Make sure to order 1 size up for layering because does fit slightly smaller than most millet products

MontBell Thermawrap Insulated Guide Jacket - Men's

December 26, 2011

It's not windproof, but highly wind resistant. Something comparable with windstopper shell would be the arcteryx kappa jacket

Amazing Jacket

MontBell Thermawrap Insulated Guide Jacket - Men's

MontBell Thermawrap Insulated Guide Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 21, 2011

Compared to Patagonia Down Sweater, Montbell Alpine Light Down and Marmot Claudron jackets, this is the one I stuck with. It is highly wind resistant.

Shell: is more durable than all 3. The chest and back shell is same as Alpine Light (30D), but with added protection on the shoulders, back of arms down to wrists and hood (40D).

Warmth: slightly warmer than Down Sweater, Alpine Light and Claudron because of the wind resistance. Good for mid 30s-high 40s with just a long sleeve t shirt even in mildly high winds...20-30 mph. Also, the built in neck gaiter is amazingly warm with the fleece lining. Whether the hood is on/off, the neck gaiter keeps you warm.

Hood: 3 way adjustable helmet capacity without the annoying flapping when not in use.

Sizing: not typical montbell...order your regular size as this jacket fits normal, not small like most Montbell

Warm, but not durable

Patagonia Down Sweater Full-Zip Hooded Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Down Sweater Full-Zip Hooded Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 December 3, 2011

I was looking for a hooded jacket that was highly wind/water resistant, light weight and warm. This met those requirements, but shell is not durable. The jacket got nagged on a tree branch and ripped a small hole; other spots are marked up, but not ripped, yet. The temp ranges are high 40s' with long sleeve t and light fleece in 30s. If looking for a light warm layer, this is your jacket. But, if belaying or hiking in the mountains, be careful as shell rips easily.

Messed up sizing/fit

The North Face Venture Pant - Women's

The North Face Venture Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 September 5, 2011

I normally wear small (128ish/5'4 and straight figure with short waist, long legs). These pants were way too big overall in size small. And were high-waisted. If you're curvy, these may work. Nice material, though

Millet Expert Down Jacket - Men's

Millet Expert Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 14, 2011

Many of the women's down jackets cut under the arms and arms aren't long. And if go up in size, body too wide. This jacket is perfect. Waterproof...held up in windy/snowing conditions, hood stayed secure in wind, and was very warm and dry.

Looking for more Millets in parka for longer coat in blizzard/-15 windchill conditions

Salewa Mountain Trainer GTX Mid Boot - Men's

July 28, 2011

Brent...have the same kind of foot...narrow heel with average forefoot, low volume foot. I tried the Asolo Stringers and didn't like how narrow forefoot was. The Mountain Trainers rock for our type of foot. FYI tried Salewa Alp Trainers - there was heel slippage.

Light, warm and wind proof

MontBell Ultralight Thermawrap Insulated Parka - Women's

MontBell Ultralight Thermawrap Insulated Parka - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 9, 2010

I was looking for a jacket good for 40-50 degrees w or w/o windy weather. This is perfect for my needs. Wore it in 48 degrees with 10-15 mph winds with a long sleeve tshirt underneath, and I was a little too warm. The jacket is very light, and durable with great wind protection. It runs small so, size up if you want extra room for layers. I'm 5'4, 130 with 34D chest, long arms, broad shoulders, short torse with long legs and straight figure other than the boobs. I opted for the men's version in medium as the small didn't give enough layer room. It was a little long in the arms, but rest was a perfect fit.

Patagonia Lightweight Glove Liners

Patagonia Lightweight Glove Liners

Rating for this product: 5 November 9, 2010

These replaced older version that I had and they still just as amazing. They are long enough to cover the wrist completely and fit into the cuff of your shirt or jacket. The material breaths well w/o letting the wind rip through them, and good at wicking away sweat. My hand is size 7 and I got a medium which fit perfectly with my long fingers and thumbs

Too short of rise

prAna Mara Pant - Women's

prAna Mara Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 November 9, 2010

Love the material, but the rise was very short even for me who is short waisted. The legs were almost not long enough for my 5'4 frame who is very straight figure with long legs. Also, didn't like that crotch as it wasn't gusseted.

Mountain Hardwear Butter Topper Hooded Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 15, 2010

This shirt lives up to its name..ssssoo soft. I'm 5'4, 130lbs with 34D chest, broad shoulders, long arms, short waisted and athletic/lean body. I got a medium and it's perfect..enough room to be comfortable w/o being too box; perfect for bopping around. If I got a small would be more fitted and would use it for running.

The North Face Tahoe Down Hooded Jacket - Men's

The North Face Tahoe Down Hooded Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 February 22, 2010

After my initial review, decided not exactly what I wanted. The hood is useless as there is no toggle or visor and it's not deep enough to cover head and forehead. Needs more pockets as only has front chest and hand pockets. Temp range the same: 32-40ish with a sweater. Going to exchange because of the hood issue. Size wise and light weight/not puffiness still great.

Just received and wore the tahoe. For those women whom are broad shoulder, long arms, with bust, and short waisted but otherwise straight figure, this jacket is perfect. Today was 35F, windy and had a light sweater underneath...very toasty. Could have just worn a long sleeve tshirt. Couldn't feel the wind at all.

Salomon XT Wings Trail Running Shoe - Women's

Salomon XT Wings Trail Running Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 6, 2009

I got this shoes for bopping around town in Chicago as well as hiking in UT/AZ during October. They're great for both. While hiking, terrain went from desert/sand (similar to dunes at the shore...loose sand), dry rock, and wet rock. Grip was good, snug fit and keep my feet dry w/o getting warm.

I have a narrow heel and medium, bony forefoot and XTs were sick. Just what my feet needed :)

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 9, 2008

Wore my jacket today (in Chicago) with wind chill of 29F (winds upto 15mph), and I was very comfortable. I didn't feel either wind or cold, and underneath only wore a long sleeve t-shirt. Size-wise, medium was perfect (I'm 5'5 and 130lb). As others said the length is on the shorter side, and yes, it's just past the top of the butt, though for a jacket vs parka, it's perfect...especially, for bopping around town or the slopes when you don't want to be a walking sleeping bag :)
