Asolo Stynger GTX Hiking Boot - Women's

July 28, 2009

Just came back from the Grand Canyon and wore my Styngers. Down South Kaibab, night at the bottom, and up Bright Angel. Granted it is summer and sweltering... but the rubber has started to separate from the sole of the boot. Don't know if this is due to the heat or a manufacturing defect. I am going to try and return these boots as they only have about 27 miles of real hiking on them to include Kauai's Awaawapuhi Trail. The good news is no blisters.

Between a capri and a short

Horny Toad Lexi Short - Women's

Horny Toad Lexi Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 July 1, 2009

Got 'em in two colors. On me (5'6") they come just a little below the knee and are not snug on the thigh or leg. Material is very soft and does travel well - but does need some hang time to unwrinkle as they do not come out of the bag looking just-pressed. Interesting detailed stitching/darts at the knee. In my opinion, Horny Toad can make pockets with bulky pocket material that does not sit well on the butt and hips. This is not the case for these shorts. I like.

Dig these boots

Salomon Uma Softshell Winter Boot - Women's

Salomon Uma Softshell Winter Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2009

Extremely comfortable from the first moment I put them on. They come just below the knee and go well with skirts (casual) or pants. Long zipper makes them and easy on and off for airport security. I usually have to size up by ½ to 1 for most boots because I have a high instep and a sturdy calf and I didn’t need to go up a size in these boots. They are lightweight flexible boots – as comfortable as slippers but with support. Went from a 6 hours morning flight straight to a day/evening of walking all over Seattle – didn’t need to think about my feet once as they were warm and comfortable. Cannot yet attest to their water evading skills.

Great boots

Asolo Stynger GTX Hiking Boot - Women's

Asolo Stynger GTX Hiking Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 2, 2009

I just retired a pair of 12 year-old leather Asolo boots that have been hiking/backpacking with me in Europe, Asia, South America, North America. Being a fan of Asolo boots, I thought I would try out the Stynger boots(based on user feedback) and am thrilled with the fit, comfort, and relatively short break-in time. The sturdy, well protected toe box provides ample wiggle room for aggressive downhill hiking/backpacking. No hot spots in the boot - laces, heel, or toe. Good arch support. Heel fits very well. The traction is good on rock and mud. Haven't yet tried them with a heavy pack but so far, very good.
