Ya need a footprint, but....

Kelty Yellowstone 6 Footprint

Kelty Yellowstone 6 Footprint

Rating for this product: 2 October 27, 2008

I got the footprint and in so far as being functional it works well, but at the price I find that it would have been just as functional and a lot less expensive to use some rolled plastic or maybe a tarp from a hardware store. The goal is to keep sticks or rocks from tearing the bottom, and to help keep the bottom dry and a less expensive means works great.
Another thing that helps is to rake the area before you lay down the footprint to remove any loose sharp or hard items.
As far as quality goes it seems good so it is not a bad thing to have, just a lot more expensive than doing it yourself.
If using a tarp or plastic just make sure that the edges do not extend out from under the tent so that water will not get between the tent and the footprint.

Great for a rookie like me

Kelty Yellowstone 6 Tent 6-Person 3-Season

Kelty Yellowstone 6 Tent 6-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 October 23, 2008

I got the Kelty yellowstone 6 because of the good reviews that said it was easy to put up.
Everone was right. It was easy even my first time out and this little puppy held up to the wind, the rain, and even my kids.
THe zipper on the door gets stuck, but besides that it is a great tent.
Roomy enough for my big air mattress, and the two kids. Even without the mattress sleeping 6 would be real tight.
