Five Ten Project Climbing Shoe

July 4, 2009

I would look at the European sizing of your Pontas, because the European sizing is more universal.

Sanuk Rascal Shoe - Boys'

June 24, 2009

I bought a pair of the Sanuk Culprits, and they had an uncomfortable
wooly fleece at the back of the foot, which made me have to return them. I was wondering if the Rascal had the same feature or not.

Outdoor Research Helium Dry Sacks

Outdoor Research Helium Dry Sacks

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2009

I stole this from my brother and used it as a pack liner, and nothing got wet! I swear there is like a little force field, so when ever water even comes near, it just vanishes into the air!

Outdoor Research Helium Dry Sacks

January 2, 2009

well you'd have to leave it inflated all the time, and even then it's not a very good idea. Also, I am not sure how much weight it could take! The seams are water-proof, but they won't really handle pressure. I used it as a pillow once, and woke up in the morning with a tiny hole at one seam!

La Sportiva Kumo Climbing Shoe

January 2, 2009

Well, La Sportiva runs on the narrow side, just so you know. If you wear a size ten I would go with a half to full size smaller for climbing shoes. So like a 42 or 41.5.

A 42 or 41.5. Maybe even a 41 if like 'em tight. Remember that La Sportiva shoes are really narrow.

MontBell Ultralight Thermawrap Vest - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 2, 2009

My sister got this for her birthday, and she loves it! It packs down so small, you could fit it into a pocket, but when you put it on, it's like packing a fireplace, oven, and space heater, into a 5.2oz package1

Evolv Defy Climbing Shoe

The North Face Aconcagua Down Jackets - Girls'

December 29, 2008

I don't think so, and if so, it would be advertised on the page, but you could try slipping it under a shell, which would keep you warmer, by having the jacket zipped up, with a shell on top. My sister does have a Columbia Woman's jacket that zips apart to have a down jacket and a shell, but I am not sure what it's called.

The North Face Denali Fleece Jacket - Boys'

December 29, 2008

Most likely a XL or L. Good chose, since they are cheaper also! Another jacket you should look at it is the Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman which is super soft and the XS fits me, and I'm only 4'8! The Monkey Woman is really fuzzy and warm, but a bit higher quality, and costs more...

The North Face Insulated Larusso Jacket - Boys'

December 29, 2008

It says insulated so it most-likely has Primaloft or another insulator to keep your kids warm on the slopes. No fleece jacket involved with this coat. Look for jackets that say 3 in 1 because they probably have a shell, a fleece and a vest, which you can zip apart for separate use. Have fun in Maine!

Come on baby light my... Headlamp?

Black Diamond Cosmo Headlamp

Black Diamond Cosmo Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 December 23, 2008

Me and my bother traded headlamps, his Cosmo for my old Petzl, because he said he wanted a water-proof headlamp for spelunking. For a couple day's after I questioned his sanity, giving away a headlamp like this! Then I realized that he had 2. This is a very nice headlamp, great quality, super bright, will get you through a cave, a early summit bid, or just about anything thing else that could happen in the dark! Just the kind of thing I would expect from a company like Black Diamond!

La Sportiva Exum Ridge Shoe - Men's

Black Diamond RPM Backpack - 1465-1587cu inDUP NOT NOT USE

December 22, 2008

Trail running? This backpack would be overkill. It would be to big, and your elbows might collide with the pack. I would use a smaller backpack maybe the GoLite VO24 backpack, which doesn't have such a large profile. Have fun!

Mountain Hardwear Viperine 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

December 18, 2008

It's bombproof in the wet weather, doesn't weigh a whole lot, and it won't be cold at all where you're headed. You should be a-okay in this one.The only drawback I can see is that it isn't as ventilated as some other tents. Other than that, it is bombproof especially in heavy rain.If you are going to be backpacking with it, it will be great, but if just using for car camping, then I might go with a bigger, better ventilated tent.

The North Face NSE Tent Bootie - Boys'

The North Face NSE Tent Bootie - Boys'

Rating for this product: 4 December 18, 2008

These boot's are great! I have them to wear around the house, and for camp shoes while backpacking. They are very comfortable, and as long as you don't let any snow get on the top, water-proof. The one complaint I have is the elastic band at the top which is uncomfortable, but as long as you roll those down, they are great!

Mountain Hardwear Scrambler Backpack - 1600cu in

Rating for this product: 2 December 18, 2008

This was a great pack, and I miss it dearly, but sadly during a month of traveling and hiking, it was starting to unravel at the bottom. The shoulder straps, although flimsy, provided support, and the back-panel made of a like weight foam material was comfortable.

Mountain Hardwear Viperine 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 December 17, 2008

My parents got me this tent as a gift, after just joining Boy Scouts, and since then I have taken it on many, many trips, and it is great for 2 boy's, or 1 boy and 1 dad/mom, but I think 2 people would be really tight. Otherwise, great tent, pretty light and super water-proof.
