Marmot Chelsea Down Coat - Women's

Marmot Chelsea Down Coat - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 24, 2008

So its been cold. I've worn the coat. And it's really warm. REALLY warm. I don't notice the wind, the hood is insulated and warm. the pockets are comfortably lined and keep my hands warm enough that I dont need gloves. I think I could take it anywhere, to most conditions. It rained the other day and I was warm and dry and the coat didn't hold any moisture. So, it passed my tests.
My only complaint is that on the subway, I've had to shrug it off as I've been too warm, but I'm okay with that. :)

Marmot Chelsea Down Coat - Women's

It is super windproof because it has a coated back of the fabric. Let the wind blow! Yes, very windproof. Down the most narrow of streets in NYC, I have been super warm. Only where the coat ends do I realize it's windy.

Marmot Chelsea Down Coat - Women's

November 21, 2008

It will pick up it's fair share, but not enough to be excessively annoying. Everything picks up some lent, you may notice it more with this though because of the color. I actually have this in black, it doesn't show lint at all. The surface is very smooth. I never notice anything.

Love this coat

Marmot Chelsea Down Coat - Women's

Marmot Chelsea Down Coat - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 17, 2008

Bought this today. Tried on a zillion coats (northface, patagonia, isis) I had initially like the NorthFace metropolis parka, but then realized it wasn't waterproof. Tried on the NF waterproof version(arctic) with the fur hood. Very similar to this Chelsea coat. But even in the larger size, the NF felt very restrictive, heavy, and overbearing. Tried this marmot chelsea coat and instantly fell in love. I was in between a XS and S, but put a midweight fleece under it and sized up and went with the small. The exterior is soft to the touch, and the overall weight of the coat is extremely light. Pockets are warm and well placed, and the jacket hits just above the knee (I am 5'5, 120 lbs) The belt in back is flattering. The espresso color was fun with the orange lining, but I went for the black. Highly recommend this coat based on fit, weight, feel. Can't attest to its warmth, however just having it on to try it on, it was WARM. And finally, I really appreciate that marmot didn't go overboard like NF does and plaster logos all over. There is a discreet black on black logo on the cuff, and thats it.
