Salomon Impact 10 Ski Boot - Men's

June 3, 2009

Impact 10 has a 100mm last, the Mission 10 has a 102mm last. Get your feet measured, but unless you have really wide feet, The Impact wil probably be better. FYI, get fitted for your boots.

Great if your stance is right

Salomon Impact 10 Ski Boot - Men's

Salomon Impact 10 Ski Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 3, 2009

I went to a boot fitter before even looking for boots. He's one of the good ones that knows what boot will work best based on your leg shape and stuff and SIZE. He specifically recommended these.
They are PERFECT. The added precise fit and stiffness gave so much more responsiveness to my skis.

Remember, the boot has the most number aspects you can go wrong and you shouldn't go out and buy a boot that feels most comfortable. Boot fitters are your friends. He certainly guided me to my perfect boot. They felt almost too tight, but you have to give them about 5-6 days to pack out. I also got the newest year's (in Feb) for a SICK price at backcountry.com

Burr! It's windy!

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 April 23, 2009

This jacket is great, however just with a windproof shell overnearth. It's not windproof. In fact it's less windproof than a plain wool overcoat..
However with the shell it's definitely warm!

The North Face Mammatus Jacket - Women's

January 13, 2009

Don't think so. Almost every Gore-Tex Pro shell technical shell, is just that: A shell. You'd freeze solid if it was cold enough to need handwarmer pockets if you didn't wear a fleece underneath

December 11, 2008

I got a pair of Oakley sunglasses that are polarized and I know they help driving, but how would these goggles being polarized help with skiing?

DAKINE Chute Backpack - 2200cu in

December 5, 2008

Perhaps it's just me but the Pro 2i s agreat size and yes the Chute is rather large for a ski pack..Neither seems to be ideal for carrying books, etc though so I'd go with a seperate backpack for those.

Mountain Hardwear Phantom Down Jacket - Women's

November 26, 2008

How much volume does this jacket take up when it's rolled into its stuff sack? Or rather, how big is the stuff sack? This would be for a size large.

Incredibly warm

Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Tights - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Tights - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 26, 2008

I imagine these will work well when I go skiing up in WI for a little warm-up before going out west this year, which is ridiculously cold in January. I agree with another poster. I'm a size 10 pants and the medium fit perfectly.

Motorola T8500R NiMH Two-Way Radio - 2 Pack

November 25, 2008

These radios will work anywhere if they're close enough. The fact that they use those frequencies doesn't mean they have to be close to towers or anything, it just means those frequencies are reserved for personal radio use so you don't have to worry about interfering with something important. This is only true in the United States. Other countries may have different licensing requirements.Legally you are also supposed to obtain a license for GMRS--FRS you don't need but only has the range of a mile or 2.

Try a different Dakine pack..

DAKINE Tactic Backpack - 1500cu in

DAKINE Tactic Backpack - 1500cu in

Rating for this product: 3 November 25, 2008

For some reason the nylon on this bag is really weak. The original and the replacement both had rips. The build quality seems really poor. Also the retractable ski carry cable on the bottom is a bit too short for my needs.

I went with the Pro 2 because it has more space, plus the water bottle pocket is a versatile external pocket and it has better dimensions (it's thinner).
