Jones Snowboards The Flagship Snowboard - Wide

November 21, 2010

Why trust your life to an edge with only two contact points when Magne-Traction gives you the grip of seven points of contact?! I have gotten to the bottom of countless steep, icy faces and thanked my Magne-Traction for giving me the edge control to hold on. Magne-Traction is also a key ingredient for rockered board designs. Adding rocker to your board makes it glide more smoothly, but it makes it harder to really lock into your turns and hold a solid edge. Though Magne-Traction on full-camber boards tends to feel too locked in, once I started testing different rocker designs it was clear that Magne-Traction was crucial to offset the drift typical of rocker flex patterns.

More then a Pow board

Jones Snowboards The Hovercraft Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 November 21, 2010

I have been dreaming of this board for years; a turbo charged pow board that floats so well it turns low angle stashes into full-speed features. My home mountain looks totally different riding the Hovercraft because I constantly find new hips and slashes in places I'd never seen before. An oversized nose planes above the snow and smooths out the afternoon chop like none other.

All mountain magic

Jones Snowboards The Mountain Twin Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 November 21, 2010

When I want to trade off between doing laps on the jump line, searching for smooth steeps, and sniffing out left over pow stashes I grab my Mountain Twin. The rockered tip and tail stay evenly afloat riding regular or switch and the camber and Mellow Magne-Traction combination keeps me confident on edge. The go anywhere maneuverability of the Mountain Twin make it my easy all-day choice from first chair to the afternoon backcountry powder lap.

Flagship

Jones Snowboards The Flagship Snowboard - Wide

Rating for this product: 5 November 21, 2010

Stepping into the mountains you never know what you're going to encounter. The first two turns may be waist deep followed by ice through the crux and chop in the outrun. The Flagship is my go-to board for fast and confident freeriding in any conditions. I have designed this board with directional rocker and a blunted nose to keep the tip up in the deepest of snow, camber underfoot and Magne-Traction for edging on ice, a longer radius sidecut for speed and railing turns, a shortened running length for maneuverability in tight spaces, and a freestyle tail to land switch in powder. This board has no speed limit and no boundaries. This is the Flagship of our line and my life's work - the ultimate freeride board. Don't be surprised if you find yourself thanking this board at the bottom of a line.

My Secret Weapons

Rossignol Jones Snowboard - Wide

Rossignol Jones Snowboard - Wide

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2008

I have worked with Rossignol designing boards for over ten years. I have had a lot of freedom to do what I wanted but I was restricted by molds. This is the first time I was able to design boards 100% from scratch. I have had these in my head for ever so to finally make them has been an amazing experience. Each size is influenced by snow conditions and the size of the mountains I ride them on.
The 158 has Squaw Valley, Japan, or early season Jackson Hole in mind. It has a twin profile and has a freestyle/all mountain shape. Some days I spend all day riding switch on this board but it is still the spine killer.
The 162 is my lower 48 film board with a little bit longer nose then the 158 for better stomp ability.
The 166 is the Europe, or lower 48 "Best day of the year" or Alaska board. It has no speed limit and with the best nose in the industry stomping airs is effortless. If my life depends on stomping an air, racing an avalanche or holding an edge over exposure then I better have the 166 under my feet. It is magic. For Jonas Emery and Freeride World Champ Xavier Delerue it is the only board they ride. This is the big gun in your quiver and will never need replacing.

Reliable bindings you can trust your life on,

Rossignol Jones Snowboard Binding

Rossignol Jones Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2008

My bindings need to work. Equipment failure is not an option riding over exposure or when you are spending days on end the the backcountry. I test my bindings in Jackson Hole. The 4100 ft of fall line that often end in a couple mile single track reverse are hell on your feet. Many times I have thought I had good boots and bindings only to realize at the 10 minute run that my high backs are too stiff and bruise my legs or that the ankle strap isn't cuts into my foot. It is taken me years to get the right combination of flex and power but these bindings are dialed. They are simple and reliable. Often times I put 200 days on a set of bindings before the product guys demand I ride the new graphics. I have a set on my split board I have had for 5 years and I have never had to replace anything.
