The North Face Apex Mamba Softshell Jacket - Men's

The North Face Apex Mamba Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 6, 2008

Hi fellow outerwear geaks, I've been sportin' the Mamba for several wear sessions now and can report: Pros: Feels much lighter on due to the Apex Univ. fabric even tho' 22+ oz., the hand of the fabric is sensationally soft and comfy, the water repellency is A1, the fit seems to run slightly large with longer arms. I took a medium and I am 6'+ with 35" arms. The chest pocket is in the right spot. Great for fall hiking. Cons: I was surprised that the pockets are waist level for a Summit Series piece. My hipbelt interfered with access and wud have liked to have seen chest/slash pockets instead. Also wud help on xc ski trips for ventilation. But, I think the fabric at 6 PFM will be just fine since it is thin and light. Can't wait to use it on xc or snowshoe days or as a latyer under a hardshell. All in all a nice piece, sans for the hand pockets.
