Outdoor Research Virtuoso Down Jacket - Men's

December 2, 2011

just under 5'10 and around 180 (I know, hit the treadmill fatty) and am wondering what size to get. Have the Mentor in M which is a nice techincal fit and doubt that this would ever fit underneath, well maybe but it would loose a lot of loft. Should i get a M or L to fit over everything for those times when I am standing around freezing?

Dynafit TLT Vertical ST Alpine Touring Binding

November 26, 2011

just got a pair but w/o the manual. can anybody share a link where i can get the manual. my main concern is the lateral DIN release. i've figured out how to set the vertical but not quite sure how to set the lateral. i realize that the hash marks represent the DIN settings (5-10) but i don't know what to line up in relation to them to set the appropriate DIN. Help please?

Scarpa Mont Blanc GTX Boot - Men's

August 14, 2011

So I've had these boots for a little while now, and loved them until yesterday. I used them to climb Mt. Hood twice, Mt. Adams once, and then took them up Mt. Rainier this weekend. Going up they were great and we made great time, but coming down my toes began to hurt. By the time we got to Muir they were hurting pretty bad, and by the time we got to Paradise they were killing. I had blisters galore over several toes and some discoloration below my big toenails. I've never had any issue with them until yesterday and don't know what to do next. I am normally a sz 10, went with the 10.5's. I have noticed a little bit of heel lift when going up, but not much at all and it doesn't rub enough to cuase blisters. Any idea what I can try to make these work for me? I don't want to have to go through that again, and I don't want to be stuck with an expensive pair of boots that kill me on the way down. Thanks all.

Backcountry.com Nebraska T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Backcountry.com Nebraska T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 1 December 29, 2010

My wife got it for me as a Christmas gift and I wore it over the next few days until I decided it was time to wash it. Knowing that it may shrink, I washed it on cold-cold and then let it hang and air-dry. I have experience with shirts shrinking, but normally they shrink uniformally. This thing shrunk all weird, the left side now hangs much longer than the right, shrunk way more than expected. I have two backcountry.com shirts and both got put in the same load and treated the same way, the other one is still great, maybe it was just a quality control issue. I will talk to customer service about it, unless they are reading this and can just coment here to let me know, to see if they will swap out the shirt for me since I really did like it and want some good quality Goat Gear.

Does anybody else feel that their movement is a little restricted or do I just need a different size?

Backcountry Access Tracker 2 Avalanche Beacon

I am debating between getting this and the Ortovox 3+. I have only ever used a BCA Tracker and really liked that interface. I don't have any experience with ortovox, but like the multi-burial capability of the 3+. If my memory serves me right it seems that the Tracker 2 has a longer range, not sure by how much though. Looking for advice on which I should go with. Thanks.

This or OR Trancendant? Will be used layering for skiing in the PNW and for climbing some of the volcanoes here, with a shell over top on the wet/windy days. 22 Designs Axl Telemark Binding - DO NOT USE

May 22, 2010

I have a quetsion with the little metal piece at the front of the binding that is meant to protect your ski while changing between ski and tour modes. How do I get that blasted thing to stay in? I had my Axl's professionally mounted and that thing has not come out twice. The most recent time was earlier this month when the Wasatch started out the month of May the best way possible, lots of snow. When I finished for the day I noticed that this piece was pretty much sticking out the front of the binding. I know, I should have noticed sooner, but the snow was that deep and great that I didn't think twice about it falling out. Unfortunately my skis were the ones that took the damage as I now have to figure out how to repair the shallow hold created from my pole while switching modes because this piece came out. Any advice on both of these issues? I love the bindings, this would be my only complaint.

Outdoor Research Durable Dry Sack

Outdoor Research Durable Dry Sack

Rating for this product: 5 October 19, 2009

I got this bag solely for the purpose of keeping my camera dry while having fun in some canyons at ZNP. Worked great. Camera never got wet even when it was completely submerged as I got off the ropes and had to swim a ways. I just clipped the bag to my pack with my camera in it, and loved that I didn't have to worry about the camera this time. Highly reccommended.
