Great On Cold Mornings

Arc'teryx Gamma AR Softshell Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Gamma AR Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 29, 2008

The last few weeks have been cold and windy in Northern California. This has been the go to jacket on my way to work in the morning. It is not waterproof, but provides more than enough protection to get from my truck to the office. The wind-blocking qualities are amazing. The collar is very comfortable, and super soft on the neck. If you are looking for a great softshell, and don't need a hood check out the Gamma AR.

Booster Love

Scarpa Booster Climbing Shoe

Scarpa Booster Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 December 1, 2008

One of the best shoes out there... as long as you don't mind sacrificing some comfort. Breaking them in is painful. The Vibram XS soles stick to just about anything, and the REALLY down-turned toe provides great power/control. Perfect for tough problems, just don't plan on wearing them all day. For more comfort check out the Vision V. I have them one full size lower than my street shoes (8.5 ---> 40)

There's a Difference

Metolius Climbing Tape Roll

Metolius Climbing Tape Roll

Rating for this product: 5 December 1, 2008

Metolius tape is better than Mueller or other brands. It's thicker, it stays where you put it, and it tears into strips easier. Just spend the extra $1.40 and buy good tape. Cadillac of tape... Yes!

Scarpa Booster Climbing Shoe

These will stretch some, but I found it was not a whole lot. I usually buy 40.5, I bought the Booster in 40. Very snug fit, especially in the toe box.

Arc'teryx C40 - Great Bag

Arc'teryx C40 Chalk Bag

Arc'teryx C40 Chalk Bag

Rating for this product: 5 November 28, 2008

Arc'teryx C40 is a nice small chalk bag. This bag is perfect for a day of bouldering, or the gym. The stiff ring mouth is great, and provides easy access while climbing. The draw cord does a pretty good job of keeping chalk inside the bag, when it is not being used. There is even a spot to stash a small brush. The belt is very simple and easy to take on/off. If you have big hands, check out the C80.
