Arc'teryx Gamma MX Hooded Softshell Jacket - Men's

April 16, 2010

Convince me to spend the extra money and get a gamma mx as opposed to the zeta. Seems like they are both mainly made of polartec powershield, hows the breathability for both? Is the gamma alright for varied things like trail running or hiking, even without pit zips?

Great All Around

Osprey Packs Manta 30 Hydration Pack - 1600-1800cu in

Osprey Packs Manta 30 Hydration Pack - 1600-1800cu in

Rating for this product: 5 April 15, 2010

So I've been using this daily for my morning and afternoon runs to and from work since I got it two months ago or so. I know you're thinking, 30L pack for running, that is overkill. However, I need the extra space sometimes for various days, and using the four cinch straps it is easy to tighten any load down to a smaller size. What I like most is its stability, even when loaded down with a large load. I can carry everything in it including my uniform, boots, lunch, extra layers, shower stuff etc. and still feel comfortable running along. It has a great layout and more pockets than you will know what to do with, you can stash everything from your phone, wallet, keys, snack, etc. The backpanel is great at promoting airflow, however, it hasn't gotten that hot here yet, we will see during the deep Summer months. The quality of construction is also A+, unfortunately I took a spill during a run last week and rolled on my back, clumsy I know, you always gotta watch for those barely exposed tree roots. The surface was a bit scratched up, however, it didn't tear through and still works great. I haven't actually used the water bladder yet, but I think its great there is an entire space and set up for the bladder that is sectioned off from the rest of the backpack, it looks very easy to take out and re-install with a full bladder. The storm gray color is great, a little lighter than what appears in the picture above. All in all a great pack from my point a view.

Arc'teryx Alpha LT Jacket - Men's

July 9, 2009

Hey all, so I heard a rumor that new design Arc'teryx jackets were cut a little bigger, I wear a medium in my other Arc'teryx jackets, should I bump up for a large in this for layering or do they factor that into the design of the shell? Im 6 foot 180 and mediums fit perfect in other jackets, but they are softshells and I don't wear much underneath them.

Great socks, no issues

Backcountry.com Cocona No-Show Sock - 4 Pack

Backcountry.com Cocona No-Show Sock - 4 Pack

Rating for this product: 5 July 2, 2009

So I bought these despite the warnings about the heel-sliding issues and I haven't regretted that decision all spring and early summer. I do quite a bit of running, trail running, hiking and biking with them, and I haven't had a single instance of them slipping down my heel. I wear a shoe size of 11 so I bought the size L/XL. They last more than a few runs before any signs of smell, and they also wick away moisture better than any other socks I have owned. I will be buying some more soon and will definitely be using these for my next marathon, thanks BC guys and gals, once again you have produced a great product!

New Favorite Shirt

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 9, 2009

I have three of these now, they are absolutely amazing...I use them for everything from running and biking to lounging around the house. The fit is true, I am 6' 190 and the Large is quite comfortable. The sleeves are a little longer than most short sleeve shirts, however, it doesn't detract in anyway. I love the feel and how breathable they are. Kelp is pretty much my new favorite color. It's a little greener than the picture above, more of an olive than the tan that my computer screen makes it out to be. Don't think twice, grab one of each color!

Backcountry.com Rime Pullover Jacket - Men's

April 27, 2009

Couple questions for the other gear-aholics out there...
I have a Shift Welder, is the Rime a lighter weight version or just the same, minus a sweet hood?
Also, is the summit sky color the same as the Tahoe for the Welder? Some guy down below returned his because he said it wasn't really blue, more teal I guess?
Lastly, I'm a muscular 6' 195 that runs marathons frequently, any advice on the size? I'm going to be running in it during the winters, so I don't want it too baggy, but I definitely need to be able to take it off haha. Thanks for your help!

Backcountry.com Stoic 2.0 Shell - Men's

So what are the main differences between this and the shift welder hoody? It seems to look very similar, but maybe more of a shell only?
