Love, love , love....
They're comfortable, with the rubber nose pads to keep them secure. I've been sporting the Native Hardtops for years and these were a welcome change...little more stylish...kind of a cross-over pair of shades.

The UL2 Person 1 Dog tent

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL3 Ultra Light Tent: 3-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 November 3, 2011

We just tried this lovely tent out on an 8 day trip through California's Emigrant Wilderness. I opted for the UL3 so we'd have plenty of room for us, (me and husband) and our cattle dog Ginger. We had room and then some. It's super easy to set up, but we discovered some nuances to this. In the tent there's gear lofts, which we positioned to have our heads by each night. The fly has color coded clips, black2black and green2green. We couldn't quite figure out why as it's universal, and it actually works better black2green as it positions the fixed side of the vestible door more ergonomically correct. At least we thought so. This way you're able to climb in and it puts you facing the head of the tent (where the gear lofts are fixed). I guess it's all a personal preference but we thought it made the most sense. We did have one night of ferocious freight train winds and it flapped wildly, but held up beautifully. It's a very warm tent too, as a couple nights it dropped down to into the 20's and we could feel a significant difference in the temp inside and outside of the tent. Condensation wasn't an issue. We split the carry weight, I had the fly and stakes and my husband the tent and poles. Made for a lot of tent and hardly any weight...2lbs each? Overall we're very happy with the UL3 and are looking forward to many more trips with it.

Freakin' awesome pants

Mountain Hardwear Chockstone Softshell Pant - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Chockstone Softshell Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 17, 2011

I purchased a pair of these pants for myself and my daughter for our recent trip to Yellowstone where there was still a mixture of "weather" and snow on the ground. I wanted something not as heavy as a full on softshell like I use for winter camping, but something that was breathable for snowshoeing and a little light snow/drizzle and also for warmer sunny hiking days. These pants delivered it all. They're super water resistant and stain resistant, stretchy, allow great mobility with the gusseted crotch, have nice soft buttery lined pockets with zippers, 2 front and 2 little pockets down each leg for a chapstick, etc. They breathe very well and don't become funky even after 5 days of camping and hiking in them. I'm 5' 6" and roughly 140lbs and ordered a 10 and had room to spare, allowing me to even layer a thin thermal at night. Do yourself a favor and get these pants.

Sweet lamp

Petzl Tactikka Plus Headlamp

Petzl Tactikka Plus Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 February 15, 2011

I think this is my 5th headlamp...yep, I'm a gearhead. I have to say it's my favorite one thus far. I just got back from a 4 day snowcamping trip where this lamp had it's maiden voyage and it did really well. It's super light, very easy to operate with only one button to push (even with gloves on). There's 3 settings to scroll through for brightness, and then the 4th is a strobe. The red filter lens is easy to click up or down. It was a new feature for me, and I really enjoyed it, as it was nice to use in our igloo as a soft background light, or in the snow kitchen while chatting with friends and making hot spiked apple cider. I think this will be the last headlamp I purchase for awhile, it's a keeper....

Nice Late Summer/Fall bag

Stoic Somnus 15 Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Stoic Somnus 15 Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 4 September 24, 2010

This bag has gone on 2 week long backpack trips with me, and it's really grown on me. At first I wasn't sure about owning a 'long' bag as I'm only 5'6" tall and 135lbs. I have a lot of room in this bag, so I'm not sure if it's fair to say that I really don't think the rating of 15 degrees is accurate. I used this bag for my late summer trips this year, and with my down jacket draped over me inside to fill in the extra space I stayed just comfortable when temps dropped into the low 30's. Maybe someone with some more girth and insulation who could fill up this bag would fair better? I'm also a cold sleeper. I love the center zip feature, it's great for reading at night before sleep, as you can keep it a little unzipped to have your arms out to hold your book but still stay cozy inside. It's also quick and easy for the 2am nature calls, to just unzip, bail out. The water bottle pocket is a little too far for my feet to benefit, but I did put our water filter in there at night to keep from freezing. It's a big pocket so I can foresee putting damp clothes in there if needed too, possibly with a hot water bottle to dry them out. The stuff sack is very generous, I was able to stuff the bag, my down jacket and light weight down pants into the sack. I love the fact that it's only a hair over 2lbs. It's a lot of bag for that weight.
Over-all it works for me. Keep an eye out on SAC for a good price. ;-)
Happy Camping.

Horny Toad Ellie Hooded Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Horny Toad Ellie Hooded Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 4, 2009

I looove this shirt. It's buttery soft, and a good weight, not too thin. It washes well, and holds it's shape. Fits well, not too fitted, but flattering, and the sleeves are long enough.
It's great for a hike, or for just being cozy on the weekend.

UL Super Stretch, is well worth it!

MontBell U.L. Super Stretch Hugger #0 Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down

MontBell U.L. Super Stretch Hugger #0 Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2008

I recently purchased this bag, for my husband. We're avid snow campers, and have been slowly upgrading all of our gear. He's been having trouble finding a bag that fits him around his chest and shoulders, comfortably. I purchased this bag, because of it's weight, at under 3lbs for a 0 degree bag, with 800 fill, and the stretch capabilities, I thought it would fit my husband perfectly. I was right! He was snug as a bug, with the temps dropping into the single digits our first night out this season. He loves the stretchiness allowing him to move with more freedom and yet stay warm as it just "hugs" you right back up again. The water resistant material, kept the icecrystals that dropped from the top of the tent in the morning hours, from soaking the bag too much, keeping it nice and lofty. It's a little pricey, but so worth it!!
