Snow Peak LiteMax Stove

Snow Peak LiteMax Stove

Rating for this product: 5 August 15, 2008

Its all I have wanted in a stove. Its light and compact. I have used with with and MSR fuel container as well. Starts very easily. Last trip I used my firesteel only. I don't see much of a down side!

The North Face Blue Ridge Bx Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Synthetic - Kids'

The North Face Blue Ridge Bx Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Synthetic - Kids'

Rating for this product: 4 August 15, 2008

I bought this for my 5 year old. Wanted something that he could grow into. It certainly kept him warm. Very light and durable and compacts down to a small size. It does not come with a compression sac so make sure you get one. He was very happy with it.

Petzl Zipka Plus Headlamp

Petzl Zipka Plus Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 August 15, 2008

I really bought this one so I wouldn't have to fool with any adjustments. But know that I've used it, I like it even more. Obviously the size is a big plus.. battery life seems to hold up well. A lot of headlamps on the market... but the convenience of the strap on this sets it a part. It is very comfortable. Bought one for my 5 year old as well so he has something when we backpack.

Snow Peak Trek 700 Titanium Cooker

Snow Peak Trek 700 Titanium Cooker

Rating for this product: 4 August 15, 2008

than you found the right product. It is big enough to hold two fuel canisters or one + a SP stove. I personally love it. But if you are looking for something to support a larger group of people (say 3 or more), you'll probably want something bigger. Otherwise, all will have to stagger their consumption of hot water given the volume.... but if its just you (and another), then this is all you need.

Brunton Echo Pocket Scope Monocular

Brunton Echo Pocket Scope Monocular

Rating for this product: 4 July 17, 2008

I shopped around for a monocular. Big decision on whether to go for all zoom power or a step down that includes a macro feature. In the end... I made the right decision. Not only can I see far away but there is an extra value in close up to look at the smaller things that you will not notice (i.e. bugs, flowers, etc...). This feature is hard to pass up.

The North Face Blue Kazoo Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

The North Face Blue Kazoo Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 July 17, 2008

After shopping around for a light weight bag I finally settled on this one. Glad I did. I went on a trip with some friends with the low around 25 degrees. Everyone complained of being cold... I had to open the zipper a little at night to make it comfortable for me. It is by far the best bag that I have slept in to date.

Kelty Noah's Tarp

Kelty Noah's Tarp

Rating for this product: 5 July 17, 2008

I love this tarp so much I bought two of the 12' tarps. with so many attachment points, you can set it up just about every configuration that you can think of. Extremely versatile. I have rarely used it with poles as usually I can find trees around that I can tie around. I have some light weight poles but lately, I have just been using my trekking poles when needed to save the weight. It is light weight considering the size/material and stuffs down pretty small with a compression sack.

Sea To Summit Sil Cordura Ultra-light Compression Sacks

Sea To Summit Sil Cordura Ultra-light Compression Sacks

Rating for this product: 5 July 15, 2008

I have used a variety of shaps and sizes to stuff just about anything. I like them so much I have ditched some of my factory bags for things like Kelty tarp and tents. You can really crank these down and not have to worry about quality.
