Its by far the warmest and lightest layering Jacket I have ever come across .
for the warmth there is no bulk at all. North face is using Primaloft Gold its the warmest wet or dry .
you really can't get any better for this type of insulation.

I had purchased the North face jacket that was the model under this that sells for 150.00
This is a MUCH nicer piece . The jacket is so light you really can't feel the weight . Its also primaloft ONE so its warmest wet or dry.
It does repel water very well. I would not try and wear this as a shell though is thats your intention . The hood is very soft and it does not get in the way under a shell at all. The water bottle pocket inside is very deep . I got a size large it fits nice for me i weigh 165 lbs. This is my secinf summit series piece and i will not buy anything else from face but this ! the quality is worth the 50 price increase. If you looking for a SUPER light and VERY warm layering piece this is the best I have comes across. The inner color of the jacket REALLY pops . I got the blue with red liner .

I have tested these at Mt washington in Dec on a night climb .
The temp was around 0 with a wind of 70 - mph. Every part of my body felt like it was going to fall off . I had on gloves with liners but 5 mins into the climb my
fingers were blocks of ice . I put these on and in about 20 mins I had the feeling back in the hands. If you get cold hands or just looking for plain old survival mitts
these are the best I have ever tried AND tested .

I bonked bad the first time I climbed Mt. Washington, I lost one of my water bottles and ended finishing my guides
emergency water as well. After that terrible feeling in my leg and a thirst that water cant quench I found these! I eat about 2 packs one going up and one down.
Wash them down with some water and you wont cramp up like i did lol. I have tried almost every flavor they are all great. These are especially good when your tired and you dont want to eat.

This is part of the summit series which is the top line of gear north face sells. Its VERY warm and VERY light. The sides are made of a mesh that vent out hot air.

I don't think there is a better made climbing fleece for layering . Only one small concern I did see some small pieces of the fluff or fleece on the back of my seat after the first time I had it on could be just shedding . I will keep an eye on it though . The fleece is very soft .

I have found that its really tuff to find a hat for climbing
that looks good and functions well. Fits true to size dries faster then a standard baseball cap and looks better then anything I have seen .

This is my second pair there is nothing close to these for the money under 100
I used these from summer to winter . Great for hiking and best of all climbing .
The have a snug fit

I had one for a few years it was a great . Coming down a mountain last year a she beast ran into me and tried dragging me down a hill ! after helping up
the large she beast and returning to the trial I found out she snagged my axe! So she freak or beast I am having to buy a new axe to replace the one you tore out of my pack after I almost ran over your huge clumsy a** .

I had last years and i loved them . I went and ordered a new pair this year and I found out they took out the waist band :(
They feel strange like your sliding into a slick Pair of spandex . just kind of freaked me out lol . They are well made, and if you dont mind the sliding slippery feel
buy them if you want a band pass . They fit true to size.

I am a big fan of almost everything MH makes.
I purchased these for a heavyweight glover liners to use on Mw in very cold weather .
They are well made and fit snug I reco a large . The med are very tight around your palms.
The tips of the fingers have a hard coating which is cool if your just using them alone for fall weather but I dont like stiff
glove liners in cold weather, your fingers seem to loose heat more when the material is hard.

I have used these for some time now they work great.
Only problem is my wife keeps taking my bottles to her work:(

I have always used these primarily under a heavyweight sock

but these actually work great for a summer sock.

They are very thin and breath great also dry very fast.

The shirt has a perfect fit its not to tight and not super loose.
Only problem is when you start to heat up the material has a VERY strange odor :(
if you can deal with that its great, it just was to much of a deal killer

I finally got these in a size medium they are always sold out .
I am 5'9 160LBS And they fit great! room for long underwear , The fit is very nice not loose nice climbing cut. two tone color
is very cool. nice side zips with velcro very warm but you dont look like a snow man . Was shocked how well made these are highest grade!!
Wish i had these a month ago when I climbed Mount washington at night when it was -35 , these would have rocked! Going back with these !!
also come with a bottle holder inside that removes very nice. Perfect for mountaineering !!!

I like beanie hats but every time I buy one I get home
and say nope going back. So like most guys its hard to find these that are not to tight or make you look
like a meathead. Tried this on and was sold!!! the fit is not tight but not loose !!! dream fit !! have average size head
and still have room to pull down over my ears!! If your looking for a well made beanie that fits great and looks good
buy it .

Well Over the past 2 years I have done extensive field test on the Hestra Heli glove.I decided to go from my size 9 to a size 10. the reason being when Your hands get very cold having a little more room for your fingers to move and have blood circulate helps. So I took these up to the blue hills on a day hike temps around 0. Right from the get go I noticed I had more warmth even when I hit the tree line with more wind and snow. Most average hands run size 9 in these, but try the 10 they are just a tad longer and wider. I would say you get about 10-25 pct more warmth and don't loose any mobility or function. As the last review said about the wrist strap being hoaxy , if your a mountaineer or hiker or skier It is a life saver! I had these on walking across some flat ice over rock and dumped hard and fell onto my wrist ! The wrist lock was on and totally saved me from a broken wrist!!! I walked away with a story and my wrist intact . I have paired these up with a set of patagonia heavy glove liners . They are the best I have come across. hope this latest review helps.

This is really a light good work horse of an ice axe . It has a bit of a tin sound but works fine.
Can't say I would trust the head on ice not to come off though. Mine had something inside that rattles a bit when you swing it.

Got it in for this winter , fits very nice prefect fit not to tight or loose, covers entire face , also easy to breath . I would order a size large unless you have a very small head .

This is the second pair I have tried , first thing is they are the most comfortable googles, the foam is soft and con forms well.
They work great in the cold. seen these used on a Everest expedition so I tried them out and wow they are amazing , if your in the bitter cold you dont want to take of your googles and expose your fingers so these are perfect for that ! fan has a low and high speed! really sucks out the fog , lenses are super nice as well.

I wanted to get a very tuff water proof alpine gator after last year cutting my old shit Ems pair with my crampons on Mount Washington . I tried the Or expedition gator that is around the same price and has a shit load of great feedback, But truth be told they suck ! if anyone says they are easy to get on your a meathead who just likes giving false reviews! They are stiff and fit like crap!!! and come it 2 sizes to big! and are very loose and impossible to get a seal around the boot! These black diamonds kick ass! they fit perfect! miles ahead of OR shit boxes! trust me im very picky maybe to picky on how these fit, and that is over LA Sportiva Evo mountaineering boots! These are better made all they way material ease of use etc etc , they also look nicer! give these a shot they are the best in the class! I will use these this winter on a night climb on mw.

Got these for the extreme temps , but noticed the belt was a little to loose even on the med,
The material is warm but bunches up around the ankles and is very itchy! for a summit series I expected alot more , tried many bottoms around 50.00 that fit better and ARE just as warm. I don't think they are worth the extra bucks.

Got this about a week ago very light fits nice in pack .
head is tight perfect for a long slog like Rainer .

Well I have tried a few of these for the winter season coming up, It is a lightweight mask and it is does that
But my one big problem is it is on the small size I weigh only 165 lbs and my head is average size. If your a bigger guy with anything but a button nose this will not fit. The neck is way to short and will not cover your neck . The size would be good for a women but for a male this really needs to be retooled . I did return this for the smartwool and will review that as well.

Another nice piece for layering in the winter, I hate shirts that have a wide loose neck but this is very nice stays up well . Fits nice and snug you don't want a loose 1st layer if top is loose the heat will escape . Happy with purchase nice quality

These are the true champ Of high altitude mitts anything over 8000m and these are the best choice. If you get cold hands try these . They have the same insaltion on the back of the hand as well.

By far it is the must have in any real mountaineers gear bag!

I have several smart wool socks from the extra heavyweight
to the thin liners . This weight I use everyday for general use once you try these you wont
ever buy a standard sock. Can be wron a few times before you wash because of the anti bacterial wool
and dries on its own.

This is a best in class for the money
no other light is as bright in the this class or made with a 120 hr run
Hit at 40 lums the extra push is almost as bright as my surefire flash light
amazing very happy . perfect for hiking or mountaineering .

Well as you may know I had stated before I had seen this glove on the summit of mount everest
Then a few smucks came on here and put up false reports on how these are not!!! extreme gloves or made so and they suck .
I did go on hetra's website and research a bit and did find out they did use this EXACT glove, the ski heli on the show
Everest Beyond the LImit! This was the reason I gave these a field test I can tell you these are the warmest gloves on the market period!
So you you guys sitting on your seat eating chips actually go out in sub zzz and trek 10 miles then talk. Now Thats what I did. The gloves are so well made It really blew me away ! When researching the gloves I found that Hestra has a theory they trap a layer of warm air in the glove around the skin .
This is very tech stuff has to do with the materials they use and so on. These gloves smoke the black diamond guide gloves
I tested and almost got frostbite early this year. Hestra actually sells a mitt that goes over this glove if you needed extra protection this I guess traps more warm air in the glove!!! They run around 60.00, hestra also sells a couple of other liners A silk and waffle Both are around 20 bucks .
Give the site a peek it really blew me away how much research has gone into the hestra glove system.

These are a great sock for spring hikes or in your sneakers !
extra support in the ankle and toes , thin breath well last forever!

Perfect for tents in mild weather and great for around the pad in the winter

This sounded crazy to the staff at BC but I got these
as liners for my OR Alti Mitts. When I use what I consider the warmest mitts made my hands tend to sweat alot
and that is a problem. I tried some smartwool liners but they just soak up the sweat and are not good when you take of the mitts
These are amazing they are very tight on your wrists very snug and warm ! and dont soak up the sweat and when your shell
comes off you done freeze. They run big so order size down.

Well I was looking for a good mid weight liner for my
outdoor research alti mitts and decided on these .
Very well made tight around the wrist which is good when used under my mitts.
cool looking also! but They don't soak up sweat like my other wool liner I used prior to these.
Keep heat in , order size down they run large.

I have these and the heavyweights and also the
extra heavyweights, being a person who gets cold toes and fingers
I like these up to around 45 40
You can add a liner if you wanted . They are very comfortable this is a great weight
for just everyday winter weather! Trust me once you go SmartWool of any weight you will never go back!!!

Seen many of these going to the summit of Everest
so I think that you can sue these and be happy you wont get cold!

I always get cold feet really no matter what I have on for socks
I use the smart wool extra heavy weights but I tend to sweat a little
and then I loose the heat, I added these liners they work good my feet dont sweat and it keeps the good heat inside.
They actually feel like dress socks

Well this is not so much a review but
a note to buyers, I have never worn these but I did see several and I mean over 2 dozen climbers on Mount Everest, yes that correct. with these gloves on, I don't know if it was this particular glove but it was the Hestra brand ! As I have a thing for gloves and always look at other climbers gloves to see what they have on. It was 40 below that morning . The glove does have a removable liner so it could have been this shell with a different liner.
Any how i'm asking around because many seem to put lots of trust in the companies gloves.

Well after trying all the top gloves made And nearly getting frostbite
in the process , I purchased the alt mitts. They are they only gloves or mitts that allowed me to
Hike In temps 20 and under. If you take a large order a med they run very big. I also used these while mountaineering in ice and
never got cold . My hands unlike others are cold in temps 35 and under With very warm glove son. The inset really is like a large super soft pillow
What I found that makes them so much better is the insulation on the back of the hand, Almost all others are packed under the palm. My hands did sweat in them which can cause problem so I do reco liners to stop this also makes the mitt fit snug. I have done lots of research and this gloves has made it to the summit of everest many times over its been tested.

Well after getting my wife in on hiking I got her this .
she loves it what else can you say about this northface has made a name around this piece

This is not true first I have done tons of research to find the warmest made, these are not close they are great done get mr wrong
I have cold fingers so keep that in mind as I want to be 100 pct fair. I used these this weekend when we had temps around zero maybe less.
I has a pair of smart wool liners under these as well , and if I had not been within a mile of my truck I would have gotten frost bite. I had to take my hands out several times during my test and get the blood moving in my tips it was not fun! After doing tons of research which I know most of the top tier guros don't they just leave tons of comments to climb the list! The Alti mitts made by Outdoor Research are the warmest made period. This information comes from many climbers who climbed Everest more then once. And are considered by almost every mountaineer as the only choice above 8000 meters. Funny backcountry still wont reorder these but keep pushing other less quality gloves that are in stock. Hope this long review helps others.

but keeps in the heat and you never sweat, be great if you have

Well I just was lucky enough to get this puppy
on sale! I have to say This is the nicest shell I have ever used to date.
Talk about well made I would put this up against any of the over priced
Arc'teryx shells any day! I used this on a hike over my northface apex soft shell.
Temp was around 20-35 To make this short it does everything it says and them some.
100 pct water proof very strong and fits like a dream. You can tell this was made to last.
I wore this out and had tons of head turns. A winner in any circle.

Good for a light glove or liner, don't use as a primary cold weather glove

I love this little cap perfect for anything
will hold you up to say 15" anything colder look at other heaver stuff

Well I have last years model of these
they don't look as cool but are made the same way.
I really loved these but! First time out this year just walking to my truck in the snow
and BONSAI!!! My feet got wet! yes with a pair of smart wool heavyweight socks on.
I did not get these from bc But ems and they are getting them back always keep
your paper work guys .

Well I wanted to include my wife in my love of hiking so I asked her to go shopping for some gear. my treat! We looked over all the boots and think she tried them all on :(
But we decided on these. last years models are red and really turn heads.
They are really a step above any other women's hikers out on the market.
Boots are very light and totally waterproof we tested them out. My wife's entire foot fell through some weak ice and not a drop got in.
Boots have amazing grip and support.
They really can go with jeans, cords what ever and make the outfit.
My wife also has foot problems but these really seem to keep that in check.
It is an investment at 180.00 but your feet are the most important thing don't skimp.
The boots are very well researched in construction.

What can I say most items I have purchased From MH have been
amazing this is no different i'm really becoming a cheerleader for MH!!

These are not outdoor gloves by any means nor do I think that they are made for such things. These are like the coat Denali everyone has one but they are a joke for real hikers out doing, but great for every day stuff.

I put an order in for this because everyone said its the best!
It was a piece of junk the minute it came out of the box.
First off its very bulky and heavy also the lamp has one button that
has like five modes good right wrong! you have to access them with half touch then hold for like 5 seconds
and so on. It is near impossible to master or even get to each mode! Trust me if you have this on
in the dark you will cry! The lamp also broke when I tried to tighten the strap!
Went ahead and ordered the recharge but said to say never made it that far.
I would never feel good about someone having this on at night you may get injured .

Im very happy with these and I don"t like most
these fit nice and snug band is very tight and does not move at your waist or fall off.
Very warm tried them around 30" in an open field I was nice and warm.
The price is great

Very thin, huge neck hole, spandex fee,l tight dont buy .

I am a huge fan of north face products I have
always felt they make the best quality.
But this is a bit hard not as as soft as others I have tried .
Material sticks a bit to you when it should be soft .

Another great jacket from MH, this is really made like a brick **** house!!!
Has a slimish fit like most MH clothes so buy a size larger.

These are very nice tight fit
very hard to find liners that are waterproof
only problem is never in stock

To answer the mr turns saying the gloves are thin
they are made thin for a reason so you have the dexterity
the bds do not have.
I tried these under 20 and they held fine with no liners.

your feet will sweat. they run very small I take a size 10
so I got the xl have to return for the xxl or else good

But seems nobody was going to be the first to try them.
So I got these and the black diamond guide gloves which are
considered by many on here and backcountry to
be the best. As far as looks these are a 10 super sexy
Very well made dont think you could make them better.

These are Far nicer then the marmot work glove which I tried last week.
They have very nice movement for such a large glove.

Well I finally tested for myself these gloves.
Almost everyone you talk to will reco these
for the coldest weather. They are without question the warmest
on the planet. 10 below 20 below would not matter and they are very well made.
you do give up alot of movement they are stiff out of the box. You will look like Hellboy with these on. They are big but true to size large will be good for most. The leather they use on the glove is made by Pittard's of England the best they make.
and it even smells good!!! the liner is like having your hands in a sheep's wool. The only gloves
made that come close are the Mountain Hard wear Habanero that I tested . Habs offer alot more ease of movement and are also very well made.
Best in class next to the guides . I decided to keep both the habanero for the not so very cold days, that I need to use my walking poles or just need my hands alot for , and the guides
when my hands are freezing . I did like the Habs one hand cinch on the wrist the guides dont have that feature. I don't reco taking out the
insert on the guides they are in tight for a reason. If you read others that say these are not warm its a person who has not worn them.
I tried both gloves so others on here would have a choice on two of the best gloves made. It was close to 300.00 but I think I will save
others time and money by this test. I also tested the Marmot's big selling work glove pass it by its junk next to these two.

Well if you have never heard of north face you must live on an island
the denali is really the gold standard as far as these go
this is me second coat they fit well and really are worth the money!
