Black Diamond Rocklock Screwgate Carabiner

I got 6 of these biners to do everything from set up anchors and top ropes to belaying and rapelling. They worked well for all applications. My favorite part is that they never get snagged on the rope or webbing. One of them got scratched more than I would expect when I was climbing over the edge at the top of a cliff. I'm not sure if this is normal, and just showed up more because they are orange so the silver scratches showing through stands out more? I hope this doesn't affect the safety of these biners, maybe someone could tell me. What I was doing was nothing but normal use. PS.... THEY ARE REALLY LIGHT!!!

Mammut Performance Statik Ropes

Mammut Performance Statik Ropes

Rating for this product: 5 October 18, 2008

OK,, First off the bat, This is not a rope for climbing!! I got this because I wanted a rope for Sport Rappelling. So far I have used it on one weekend and it worked perfectly. Even though I forgot my carpet (used to protect the rope where it runs over the cliff edge) it doesn't have any signs of wear!! I love that its Black. I feel all tactical and shit. hahahaha

The Best Rope Bag I've Ever Seen or used!!

Metolius Rope Ranger Bag - 1368 cu in

Metolius Rope Ranger Bag - 1368 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 October 18, 2008

This bag pwns every other Rope bag that I have ever seen. Best Features: 2 straps Make all the difference in the world when you have to do anything but step out of your car and be at the crag (Unless you hate your self buy a bag with more than just a duffel bag style), and A Huge tarp that doesn't ever get in the way, . There is tons of room in this bag for allmost everything you could want to bring with you. ~~~~~~~A word of advice~~~~~~~~i kept the cardboard that came with the bag to roll up at the very end so no matter what i pack there is a flat surface against my back.

Comtortable enough but SLOW to put on.

Black Diamond Momentum AL Harness

Black Diamond Momentum AL Harness

Rating for this product: 3 October 17, 2008

My main problem with this harness are the buckles.

With this harness you have to make all the adjustments and then be sure to double back the strap. Admittedly this is not that big of a deal, but One thing I like much more about my other harness (an old petzl corax) is that the buckles adjust while already being doubled back. This cuts in half the time it takes to put on your harness! (The speed adjust version of this harness also has these far superior buckles)

Another thing I like about my Petzl is that it has buckles and straps on each side of the belay loop so it can be adjusted from fiting a skinny teenager up to my heavier adult friends, all while keeping the belay loop centered. This BD Harness does not have nearly the sizing range.

I am returning this. And because I can afford it right now I think I am going to get the arc'teryx R320 or X350a, which are not really comparable in price to this harness. However, I tend to like spending a bit more on something now, being happy with it, and not wanting to upgrade in just a year or 2.

Bottom line: If you like this harness... spend the extra $10 and get the speed adjust version. If you want better range to fit a variety of people go with something like the petzls that have 2 buckles/straps.
