Good Stuff

Nikwax Down Wash

Nikwax Down Wash

Rating for this product: 4 February 1, 2012

This stuff did a great job on my Stoic down jacket. Longtime stains were gone, and the color is still as bright yellow as ever. I don't know if it was because of the down wash or the down proof I also used after, but it seemed like the first time i used both it took a long time in the dryer, on low heat, to unclump the down, even with some tennis balls. Just something to keep in mind I guess, otherwise this stuff worked great.

Stoic Luft Down

Stoic Luft Down Sweater - Men's

Stoic Luft Down Sweater - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 2, 2011

I got this jacket on SAC, and I couldn't be happier considering it was so discounted. I would have paid more for it though--maybe not 180, but certainly 120 or so.

I've got a small yellow. The size is great for me, not too snug and a perfect length on arms and torso (I'm about 5'7", 140ish). And the yellow is a great color, nothing too highlighter.

As for warmth, I've been able to wear this guy on its own in 20 or so degree weather, as long as I'm walking/moving. It also layers great under my Stoic Monolith, also a small, which together are good warmth and wind resistance. I've seen a few feathers fall out in the last week or so, but nothing to worry about.

Agreed. Never dealt with static with this jacket. And the fleece lined inside is oh so soft.

Stoic Monolith

Stoic Monolith Softshell Jacket - Men's

Stoic Monolith Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 23, 2011

This jacket is a great, simple softshell. It's very light for the warmth it packs, and has very soft fleece on the inside. I live in upstate NY, and while this guy can't tackle zero degree temps on its own, it is more than enough when layered with a light fleece, or maybe a micro puff. One regret is I wish I went a size larger to make layering easier. I'm 5'7" or so, 140, and a small is snug, especially with something underneath. Still a great jacket though.

I wear these playing Ultimate, and while they're pricey, They have held up great. After six or so months they're in great condition, and can last at least another six. Worth the price, I've always been impressed by smartwool

Good light fleece

The North Face Khumbu Fleece Jacket - Men's

The North Face Khumbu Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 1, 2009

I got this fleece on SAC, and have been pretty happy with it. It's good for 40 to 50 degree ish days on its own, and layers well under a softshell or even rainjacket if you want some warmth in a rainstorm. can also zip in to my ski jacket.
