good shirt at great price!

Stoic Merino 150 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Stoic Merino 150 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

my first merino wool performance clothing!

i got it for a good price using the backcountry giftcards they sent out before christmas. regardless, i'm quite happy with it. i wouldn't pay $80 for it, but i'm pretty frugal.

i took it for a quick run right out of the bag and it breathes really well. it dries fast and doesn't smell (not that i can smell particularly well anyway).

i used it as my baselayer at jay peak this past weekend and it was around (or below) -30C with windchill. along with a windstopper longsleeve half-zip and another polyster/cotton sweater. i had a bc.com stoic shell on top. i felt cold, but not in my core.

i got a medium and i'm around 5'-10" 185lbs (basketball build, definitely not slim). i really like the fit. the sleeves are a bit long; but if i use the thumbholes, it's totally fine. looking forward to more merino pieces!

first pom-poms!

Backcountry.com Himal Beanie

Backcountry.com Himal Beanie

Rating for this product: 4 January 12, 2010

the pom pom was a bit bigger than expected, but i can live with it .... it's about the size of a fastpitch softball ...maybe a bit smaller....caveat though is that you can't use a hood properly...

it's super warm, but not the greatest in the wind ....re: those who are folically challenged or have shaved heads....

and the wool itches the back of my neck a little, but i only notice it when i'm sitting...the knit is thick though!....which is a good thing!

gift for my mom!

Backcountry.com Siphon Wool Hooded Jacket - Women's

Backcountry.com Siphon Wool Hooded Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 January 12, 2010

i can't speak on the technical use of it, but it seems well made and my mom likes it! she was skeptical to how warm it would be, but was impressed. she's about 5'8" 140-150 and the large fits well ...

i'm wondering about the washing methods as well, but it seems like a cold cycle works fine .... she hang dries most non-cotton things anyways...

definitely wouldn't pay more than the outlet price, but the cuffs have a nice short "gaiter" to keep warm...
