Marmot Zeus Down Vest - Men's

Both the Guides vest and Zeus vest are 24" center back in size med. The Zeus, however, is 1" longer than the guides in the front and is a bit more fitted. The Guides vest uses a slightly heavier fabric (1.6 oz versus 1.2 oz) I would say go for the XL.

It should be similar in warmth to cap 3. The great thing about Marmot's is the Cocona (activated carbon from coconuts) which due to it's high surface area will wick incredibly fast to keep you dry, block uv and finally adsorbs odors without any chemical treatments.

Marmot Power Stretch Full-Zip Fleece Jacket - Women's

November 20, 2009

No, this won't zip into any jackets. It use a less bulky coil zip instead of the tooth zipper that is needed for zip in styles. Also, zip in liners tend to be quite short so they will fit inside the shell and often feel a little short when worn by themselves.

Upgrades from the Bastione to the Launch are: powder skirt, pass pocket on sleeve, bonded water resistant zippers on all external pockets, tricot lining on collar and shoulders, and a goggle pocket. November 1, 2009

Fill weight on the Ama Dablam is 125 grams of 800 fill power down. Center front is 24" and center back is 29.5" and total weight is 18 ozs. With respect to the Fitz Roy Hoody, it a bit of a apples to oranges comparison, as the Ama is designed as an ultralight, packable hoody great for less cold conditions and layering. A better comparison might be to the Marmot Greenland Baffled Jacket which is much, much warmer. (300 grams 800 fill down)

I can't comment on the other 2, but having used the Leadville a ton, I can say it offers a great combination of breathablity and weather protection. The windstopper front and back keep the weather out, while the breathable side panels do a great job dumping heat and moisture when you're working hard. Marmot Pinnacle Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

September 22, 2009

Yes, it can be washed safely and in fact, if you do it right, washing can help rejuvenate the down. First use a high quality down soap like those made by Nikwax and Granger's. Then use a large front loading commercial washing machine, not your home job which has an agitator, which can rip out the baffles. After washing use a large capacity commercial dryer on low or no heat and plan on spending a good portion of the day drying it. As it starts to dry add a couple tennis balls to the dryer to break up the down clumps or just stop every once in a while and pull them a part by hand. When you pull the wet bag from the washer be sure to scoop it up rather than pull as the heavy wet down could tear out a baffle.

All Marmot bags are EN tested. (EN stands for European Norm and is a testing procedure using a heated copper mannequin and 20 sensors to measure heat loss) EN testing for the Helium give these results: a rating of 16.3 F for the lowest temp an average man could have a comfortable night sleep, and a comfort rating of 27 F for an average woman to have a comfortable sleep (women tend to sleep colder than men) So I would say if you are a warm sleeper the Helium should be good down to temps between 16-25 F. If you tend to sleep colder maybe 25-35 F for a comfortable night sleep. Check out the Marmot website for more info on EN testing.
