Garmont Voodoo Rapid Thermo Telemark Boot - Men's

The size 27 and 27.5 are the same shell size, the only difference is a slightly thicker foot bed in the 27. Once thermo-fitted they should fit the same.

The foot bed is pretty simple and is a close-cell foam. It can easily be replace with a custom or over the counter foot bed which should improve the fit and performance of the boot.

Garmont Endorphin Mg Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

This is Garmonts stiffest AT boot. They call it an AT flex rating of 130. This flex rating is only relative to other AT boots in Garmont's line-up and shouldn't be compared to other manufactures boots. In comparison the Radium is a AT 120. Changes from last year are: Main difference is the liner. The 2009-2010 version has Garmont's new Rapid liner. Denser, non thermoformable foam on the sole helps prevent pack out. Also, it has more toe room, due to thinner and elastic foam in the toes. Difference in the shell are new buckles and new colors.

Marmot Urban Hauler Med Backpack - 1611cu in

December 13, 2009

The Urban Hauler is a modern take on an ancient Japanese fishing bag design. It's a simple bag with shoulder straps that connect to the front of the bag. The bag closes when you put on the shoulder straps, which then pull the top closed. It will fit most laptops, but does not have any padded sleeve, so won't offer much protection. It works great for any everyday bag to haul around whatever you need.

Marmot Ama Dablam Down Jacket - Men's

December 9, 2009

The Cirque jacket had a bit more down and was 650 fill power. The Ama Dablam is 800 fill and more lightly insulated. It's a super light weight jacket that works great as a stand alone piece for temps around 20F and above or as a layering piece when it gets really cold. If you're looking for something warmer with a tougher shell you might check out the Marmot Mtn Down Jacket.

Marmot Afterburner Fleece Jacket - Men's

December 8, 2009

Can't speak to the MH or TNF windstopper, but the Marmot Afterburner is a velour/velour windstopper, meaning it has fleece on both the inside and the outside. Much of the windstopper on the market has fleece on the outside, but a stiff mesh on the inside, which isn't nearly as soft and warm. Hope that helps.

Yes, down can compress quite a bit, however, due to it's waterproof/breathable Membrain shell, it's a bit bulkier and less air permeable than other down jackets without waterproof/breathable shells. Also, it doesn't have a pocket that the jacket is designed to stuff into. Check out the Marmot women's guides down sweater if you're looking for something a bit more stuff-able.

Marmot Pinnacle Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

September 22, 2009

Yes, it can be washed safely and in fact, if you do it right, washing can help rejuvenate the down. First use a high quality down soap like those made by Nikwax and Granger's. Then use a large front loading commercial washing machine, not your home job which has an agitator, which can rip out the baffles. After washing use a large capacity commercial dryer on low or no heat and plan on spending a good portion of the day drying it. As it starts to dry add a couple tennis balls to the dryer to break up the down clumps or just stop every once in a while and pull them a part by hand. When you pull the wet bag from the washer be sure to scoop it up rather than pull as the heavy wet down could tear out a baffle.
