Lightweight and Roomy

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL3 Ultra Light Tent: 3-Person 3-Season

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL3 Ultra Light Tent: 3-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 November 7, 2008

I originally bought this tent for backpacking with my dogs. It's light and exceptionally roomy. I also used it for a 3-day Stevens-Snoqulamie PCT traverse with a friend. The idea was to split it up between us but for various reasons I wound up carrying the whole tent myself. It was light and compact enough that it was not a problem. I have also used the tent to camp with a friend and our three dogs - a Vizsla and two Australian Shepherds. That was cosy but with the vestibule space we were able keep our gear outside in the generous vestibule space. Almost all trips I have used this tent for I experienced hard rain but was always dry inside.

Great, light backpacking bag

Big Agnes Mystic SL Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Big Agnes Mystic SL Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 October 3, 2008

I have a couple of other Big Agnes UL/SL products that I love and this bag is no exception. First night out with it at close to the 8k level got pounded by heavy winds and wet snow but was toasty through the night. Being able to slip my existing rectangular pad into the sleeve was great. Because of the heavy winds and precip some moisture did drip onto the bag but nothing seemed to penetrate. I'm a bit of a thrasher at night but this bag has plenty of leg room so it was not a prob.

Withstands the punishment

Big Agnes Seedhouse SL1 Super Light Tent: 1-Person 3-Season

Big Agnes Seedhouse SL1 Super Light Tent: 1-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 September 26, 2008

First time I used this tent it was in ideal conditions without the fly. I was a little concerned because my bag was touching the end of the tent (I'm 6'1"). Thought about taking it back but took it out again last weekend in opposite conditions at 7700' to see how it would hold up. Heavy winds that had to be gusting 50 or so mph brought down wet snow through a good part of the night. There were times when I thought for sure I would get picked up and taken away but since I had the tent tightly guyed out I stayed warm and dry despite the wind and snow accumulation. Compact, light, roomy enough for a solo, and sturdy - this is a keeper.
