The North Face Plasma GTX XCR Boa II Boot - Women's

The North Face Plasma GTX XCR Boa II Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 January 8, 2009

This boot is comfortable and amazing in all ways...except for one. Where the boot bends as you conclude a step at the base of your big toe, it feels quite painful and sharp - the material is so sturdy that when it bends towards the foot it actually doesn't give with the forward-pressure of your toe and hurts it. If you can stand to break it in long enough to get rid of that feeling, then more power to you, they are really fantastic except for that one factor.

The laces are incredible and twist evenly so it is just the most secure boot for your foot. The treads bite deep and they are fantastic for trails.

Marmot Midweight Crew - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Marmot Midweight Crew - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 December 31, 2008

This is a fantastic base layer. It keeps me intensely dry and warm in super cold temperatures, but I have to admit that it does shrink in the wash, regardless of whether you put it in the dryer. The arms don't shrink, but the body shrinks upward and that's a little frustrating...not a big fan of the midriff in my longies. Definitely order a size larger than you usually would to survive the shrinkage. Other than that, an absolutely fantastic shirt!

Ocean Kayak Peekaboo Kayak

How durable is the little window on the bottom? Does it actually give you a good view? It looks kind of small from the picture.

Old Town Cayuga 110 Kayak

September 6, 2008

I'm thinking about signing up for the Kayak for a Cause event this summer, but I definitely won't do well in my little Otter. Would this boat be good for going long distances like, say, from Crab Meadow Beach in Long Island to Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, CT? If not, what would be?
