How durable is the little window on the bottom? Does it actually give you a good view? It looks kind of small from the picture.

I'm thinking about signing up for the Kayak for a Cause event this summer, but I definitely won't do well in my little Otter. Would this boat be good for going long distances like, say, from Crab Meadow Beach in Long Island to Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, CT? If not, what would be?
