Brunton L3 3-Watt LED Headlamp

November 5, 2009

Yes it does tilt-but it doesn't seem to tilt enough. It just needs to tilt a little more to not be frustrating.

Brunton L3 3-Watt LED Headlamp

Brunton L3 3-Watt LED Headlamp

Rating for this product: 3 November 5, 2009

The light was great and very bright and I just couldnt pass it up for the price I found it at. But I recently sold it for the new Petzl MYO RXP and I couldnt be happier. The Brunton's beam is just too narrow. I got caught on a hike at night on a pretty rocky and technical trail, and the narrow beam just didnt show enough of the trail. It really needs diffuser of some kind. Plus, by having the 4 AA's on your head, its alittle heavier than normal. Nothing to unbearable but it really needs a third strap to keep it from slipping..It comes with a separate battery pack for C-batteries but that was just to heavy to carry.

Marmot Never Summer Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down

Marmot Never Summer Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 4 November 5, 2009

Love this bag! Just got back from a camping trip where it rained non stop. Some rain actually came in through the roof vent on my MSR MoRoom tent. But an awesome fact was discovered and that was that the bag is somewhat water repellent right from the store. I woke up in the morning(totally toasty) and there were beads of water on the top from where the water came in from the torrential rain. But whatever bag you get make sure you have great insulation between you and the ground. My REI pad only has a 3.2 R-value but i went to walmart and bought a $5 foam mat that worked perfectly. The temps only got down to around 34 degrees at night but it felt colder with the constant rain. Its not the lightest bag and probably not the bag your looking for on a long trek, but for the money, you cant go wrong. PS. the draft collar makes a huge difference at keeping your warmth in..a feature in any bag to look for..

Went on a 30 mile hike on the AT and the pack performed great. I think I over packed a little but the pack held everything comfortably! The stretchy spandex outer pockets really allow you to cram a lot more than you might think into little areas. The inner pocket that holds a hydration bladder really came in handy. I put my MSR 4L bladder inside and was still able to put my tent, cooking supplies, a few clothes and food inside the bag. The only thing I put on the outside was my tent poles.. Great bag

Petzl MYO RXP Headlamp

September 15, 2009

The defuser on the RXP really does a great job of spreading out the already bright beam. When you hit the boost button with the defuser up, it really lights up the night. On the lowest setting, which is 8 lumens, you can easily cook or I even was able to hike on less technical parts of the trail. I don't even use the 9 or 10 setting because its just to much and for the fact that those two settings aren't regulated.

Just got back from a trek on the Appalachian and we would average 6 miles a night before we would set up camp. The light preformed marvelously!! I really like that you can set your own light modes. I have mine set at 1-4-and 7. The light is awesomely bright I never need to use the highest setting. And if I do, I just us the boost feature. And when those 160 lumen come on, it really lights up the woods!! I gave it 4 stars because nothing is perfect. Its not the most water proof, but hey, Im not using it for scuba diving. Also the rubber button can be a bit tedious, but thats just knit picking. Definitely recommend!!

The North Face Meso 22 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

May 8, 2009

Can anyone give an honest assessment of this tent? I dont see how the roof would offer occupants two different head levels when it appears to be uniform for the most part. Has anyone had any experience using this tent? I cant find a review for it anywhere!!!

I have been looking everywhere for a rain cover for this pack. Does anyone one know if such an item exists? Also, does anyone know how this pack holds up in the rain and its water-repellency? Thanks

MSR Hubba HP Tent 1-Person 3-Season

April 8, 2009

I was wondering if anyone who has this tent tried to cook under the vestibule? To put it a different way, is the vestibule large enough to cook in should you get stuck in a down pour?
