Patagonia Rain Shadow Jacket - Women's

September 28, 2011

Thanks, James. LOL - no moutaineering here... just lots of dog-walking & trail hiking in wet/cold unpredictable, winter weather. More concerned with staying dry, as I will have warm layers underneath. Didn't realize there was a storm flap *under* the zipper. Sounds like it should work fine.

Patagonia Rain Shadow Jacket - Women's

September 21, 2011

Will this shell be sufficient for winter weather over my Patagonia down sweater? (As far as being resistant to damp winds and blowing snow?) I need something substantial and not too flimsy, but I'm concerned that this does not have a storm flap.

Columbia Benton Springs Full-Zip Fleece Jacket - Women's

August 12, 2011

Burnt Henna is a fairly bright "coral red" (more towards tones of orange, rather than a true-blue red). Really pretty and goes with lots of things for a pop of color, but I wouldn't use it as an everyday fleece color. This style is a great weight for year round wear & seems to run true to size for me.

Could be for a powder skirt (prevents snow from entering the body area when skiing or sporting in snow.)

Cute and Casual

Isis Turnaround Dress - Women's

Isis Turnaround Dress - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 11, 2010

I wear the higher neck front with a cardigan for work and love the all-day comfort. I turn it around for the v-neck if I'm going out for other social activities. I'm 5'4", 150 lbs & curvy. Surprisingly (for me) the large was cut WAY too wide but the medium fits just perfectly. It barely hits my knee, so if you are taller, take note. Also love the hidden little side pocket. The plum color is a deep purple/maroon - great color for summer and fall.

Versatile Comfort

prAna Kelly Capri - Women's

prAna Kelly Capri - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 June 11, 2010

Love these capris. The drawstring side hems allow you to adjust the length depending upon the weather and activity. I use them mostly for trail hiking and have been very pleased with their durability - tough enough to survive swipes by thorns and branches, while still being lightweight and VERY breathable.

I decided upon the 12s to allow for more flexibility and movement, but since linen blends tend to conform to your shape during wear, I could have probably gone with the 10s for more casual use. I agree with a previous poster that a wash & dry brings them back to their original shape. My only complaint is that I do have to wear a belt with them.

The North Face Helicity Windstopper Down Jacket - Women's

November 13, 2009

What is the difference between the "snow-white" and the "white" color? It seems that the regular "white" is a really bright white - but is the "snow-white" more of a gray or cream?

KEEN Whisper Sandal - Women's

May 28, 2009

The Keen San Sebastian is a convertable mesh shoe/sandal. The elastic back heel strap can swing over the top of the shoe to allow it to be worn as an open-back, slide-style sandal. Fairly breathable, too. Or you can wear it with the heel strap in place for more security. Lots of flexibility and comfort!

[The San Sebastian tends to run true to size, so no need to order a half size up from your regular size like you might need to with the Newport or Venice.]

Ahnu Tilden II Sandal - Women's

Ahnu Tilden II Sandal - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 May 13, 2009

They looked comfy & I wanted so much to like these, but I could NOT get my foot inside them. I have an average width foot but the ankle area of this shoe could not be opened wide enough for me to get my foot all the way in, much less be securely closed. My guess is if you have a thin, narrow foot and ankle - these should be fine.

Nice Hikers With Limitations

KEEN Genoa Peak WP Hiking Shoes - Women's

KEEN Genoa Peak WP Hiking Shoes - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 April 16, 2009

I have these in (Shitake) brown and love their versatility. Rugged without being too clunky. They are a bit narrower than most women's Keen styles, and were stiff to start out, but I took a week or so to break them in before taking them to task & would recommend this to anyone planning a long hike or trek. Once broken in, they have formed to my feet and I can wear them for a whole day without a problem. Excellent stability for slippery or uneven terrain. Pair them with SmartWool socks for breathability. As for some complaints about them being too warm, I would say this: these seem to be marketed as hiking shoes for cold and damp weather conditions, not really meant for summer or casual day-to-day wear.
