Wonderful Insulation

MontBell Ultralight Thermawrap Insulation Jacket - Men's

MontBell Ultralight Thermawrap Insulation Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 5, 2010

Crazy light, super compressible; you can't get a better ultralight insulation layer. This and my Norrona paclite shell give me insulation and weather protection in less than 19oz, and in about 1L of volume. My next jacket will be the hooded version, gives a bit heavier insulation and a hood for only 4oz more. It's like magic, I just don't know how they can make such and awesome jacket.

Normal fit; I'm 5'8" 130lbs w/ a 35" chest and the small is great.

Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

2nd favorite 'biner

CAMP USA Nano 23 Carabiner

CAMP USA Nano 23 Carabiner

Rating for this product: 5 September 3, 2010

23g, full strength, perfect proportions. Best racking biner money can buy, and even at full price you can buy a lot of them. Just holing one of these in my hand and I marvel at the amazingness that C.A.M.P. was able to create in these things. Once I get enough these will be at the rope-end of all my draws on alpine ascents. Probably wouldn't want to clip anything over 9.8mm in these, but a nice sexy 9.2mm nano rope would work lovely in these. Paired with WC Heliums (my #1 fave) and you have the greatest rack ever.

Amazing

Wild Country Neon Keylock Screwgate Carabiner

Wild Country Neon Keylock Screwgate Carabiner

Rating for this product: 5 September 3, 2010

Holy crap, a locking, moderately large, keylock carabiner that weights 43g. Blows me away. Bought a bunch, love them. Wild Country is making some really great stuff these days. Pair these with a rack of Heliums...

The cams by which all others are measured

Black Diamond Camalot C4 Package #0.5 - 3

Black Diamond Camalot C4 Package #0.5 - 3

Rating for this product: 4 September 3, 2010

These are the gold standard of cams, the ones by which all others are measured. Double axle means large range and high strength. My cams of choice because they are proven and totally bomber, but I only gave 4 stars because they are no longer the most innovative cams; new double axle single stem cams from Wild Country and DMM are lighter. I'll add that star back on when BD comes out with the next game-changing update.

Best 'biner on the market

Wild Country Helium Clean Wire Carabiner

Wild Country Helium Clean Wire Carabiner

Rating for this product: 5 September 3, 2010

This is by far the best carabiner on the market today. Super lightweight (33g) and no notch at the nose make these my weapon of choice for both bolt and rope-end on my draws. Clips feel like butter. Also use these to rack multiple pieces; no more getting wires caught when trying to place a nut in a hurry.

Buy these, you won't be disappointed.

Great for s'mores

Backcountry.com Long Handled Spoon

Backcountry.com Long Handled Spoon

Rating for this product: 5 June 17, 2010

My friend thought I was nuts to spend $8 on a spoon, and a big metal one at that. But my first night out with it we decided to make some s'mores of the camp stove, and this was great as a marshmallow holder. Then, the next night it showed its awesomeness again as I was able to eat my freeze-dried meal straight out of the package without having to stick my hand in and get it all messy. Sure, maybe a little spendy, but I'm sure it will last for years, and it's way less than the Sea to Sumit version. Now all I need is the spork...

Compact and Powerful

Optimus Crux Stove

Optimus Crux Stove

Rating for this product: 5 June 17, 2010

I love this stove! Just used it on its first outing and it performed wonderfully. I'm able to pack the stove and fuel canister into my MSR tea kettle giving me a liter of water-boiling capacity in 3-4 minutes with very little weight. Seems to be very well built and I expect years of use. The fuel valve seems to be a little sensitive, so bumping it can cause the fuel flow to be interrupted, but if you're careful while setting the burner it works just fine. Of course, it has the issues of any canister stove, i.e. not great in cold weather, but I couldn't ask for much better.

DOES NOT fold

Optimus Crux Lite Stove

Optimus Crux Lite Stove

Rating for this product: 4 May 22, 2010

I specifically bought this stove because it said it would fit in the underside of a butane canister. Unfortunately this is not the case. The full size Crux stove burner will fold to the side, but this one is one piece. Only the pot arms fold in.

It seems to be a really great, solid stove, but it won't fit where I need it too. I'm sending it back to purchase the regular (not lite) one. If you don't need the folding then this is a good choice for a lightweight stove. I give it four stars because it still could be a good product, just not for me.

Pearl Izumi Vagabond II Cycling Jacket - Men's

September 26, 2008

I can't tell you for certain, but I have a Pearl Jersey that seems just a touch big in a small, but this jacket is just a touch small in a small. I opted for the Medium in my case, and it seems a little big, but considering my options that seemed best.I would recommend the large in your case, but I also don't want to claim to be an expert either...Hope that helps and everything works out well for ya.
