i recommend a Pyranha Fusion Small (Connect 30 option if you're running some decent WW) Maybe a Liquid Logix Remix XP9. Fusion Small will prob fit you better. Both are "crossover boats" which means they are great on WW and have a drop down skeg to keep you straight on the flats.

Great boot!

La Sportiva Trango Trek GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

La Sportiva Trango Trek GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 20, 2009

Got these boots off SAC and love them. They were comfortable right out of the box. I wore them very little before my first trip with them and they did fine. I've had them for about 3 months now and still very happy. Sheds water like a duck and the sole grips great even in wet slick areas. I have a relatively wide foot and these still fit comfortably so I'm not sure about the posters below. YMMV. I highly recommend.

Great pack!

Osprey Packs Atmos 50 Backpack - 2800-3200cu in

Osprey Packs Atmos 50 Backpack - 2800-3200cu in

Rating for this product: 5 April 17, 2009

I've got the 2008 version of this pack and I love it. Tons of pockets....The airspeed suspension is extremely comfortable. The pack stays firm on my back even under heavy load and the mesh back panel also helps me stay much cooler than with my old Gregory. The hydration system can be placed in it's own pouch within the main pocket, or you can unzip the main pocket and put the bladder in between the back of the pack and the mesh back. Thats how I use mine and it keeps the hydration system from taking up space in the main pocket. I've got the Atmos 50 in a large and its plenty of room for 3-4 days out in the winter and 5-6 days in the summer . If you are ultra light, you may even do better than that. I highly recommend this pack.

Osprey Packs Atmos 50 Backpack - 2800-3200cu in

April 15, 2009

I second what Greg said. The Atmos 50 is great for a multi-day (2-3) minimalist hiker, but if you want to carry a few more bells and whistles, I would go with the Atmos 65. I personally own the Atmos 50 and think the pack performs beautifully. I would expect the same from the Atmos 65. You can't go wrong with Osprey.

Better than Petzl

Black Diamond Spot Headlamp - 2010

Black Diamond Spot Headlamp - 2010

Rating for this product: 5 December 30, 2008

I've previously used Petzl head lamps and have been very happy with them. The "Spot" is the first Black Diamond I have owned. The Spot has the same features and quality of the Petzl Tikka XP at $10 less. What is there to think about?
