This is the probe

Backcountry Access Carbon 260 Avalanche Probe

Backcountry Access Carbon 260 Avalanche Probe

Rating for this product: 5 January 9, 2009

I have finally found the probe I have been looking for. I use probes on a regular basis, not only for searching, but also for checking the pipe wall depth and the race course snow coverage. It locks well and is solid, without being heavy and it has the lenght I need here in the Alps. This is my 3rd probe in 5 years and I have finally found the one.

A super glove

Mountain Hardwear Fulcrum Glove - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Fulcrum Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2009

This is a surprisingly warm glove. I teach skiing in the Swiss Alps and we are coming off a nasty cold snap, -15,,,,My hands usually stayed pretty warm. I like the short gauntlet with the velcro closure as it fits under the cuff of these bizzare ski school jackets too

I expected more

Black Diamond Deploy 3 Shovel

Black Diamond Deploy 3 Shovel

Rating for this product: 3 January 8, 2009

This shovel is high quality, that is for sure, bit I expected a bigger scoop. I feel like it is only just sufficient and I will use it only as a back up and randonee shovel. I will not take it for a call out as it is not up to the task of moving snow quickly

Nice quality, but too small....

The North Face Longhaul 21 Rolling Gear Bag - 2000cu in

The North Face Longhaul 21 Rolling Gear Bag - 2000cu in

Rating for this product: 3 September 16, 2008

I bought it, I got it and it's kinda of small. I travel light, really light, and even I was pressed to get more than a couple of days worth of stuff in it. That being said, it is not as small as it looks and the outside pockets do hold stuff, but I don't take little stuff. I ended up buying an Osprey carry-on and the NF will be for weekends.
