La Sportiva Trango Trek GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

January 14, 2009

I wear the same size(s) street shoe as you. I got the 44.5 in these boots and that accommodates my upgraded insoles and thick hiking socks with thin liners. The 44.5 works for me.

Black Diamond Uncut White Gold Pure Chalk

Black Diamond Uncut White Gold Pure Chalk

Rating for this product: 5 January 9, 2009

This is great Chalk. I normally would buy block chalk and then break it up into pieces. This White Gold is sold already broken up into perfect sized gold nuggets. I purchased the 300g size and it should last me several months climbing 2-3 times each week.

Unique and Comfortable Fit

Petzl Corax Harness - Men's

Petzl Corax Harness - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 2, 2009

I have only had the chance to wear this harness in the gym so far, but it is comfortable and very adjustable. I like the design of the double-backing system that Petzl has come up with. It is simple and reliable. The waist straps are really long but can be tucked away while climbing, but I am pretty thin so....might work out well when I have thick layers on in the mountain. I like how the side gear loops lay flat that will help when making alpine ascents with a backpack on. The rear haul loop is small, but seems burly enough to drag a haul rope up the pitches. I would definately buy this harness again. Very happy with the purchase.

Arc'teryx Cierzo 18 Backpack - 1098cu in

Arc'teryx Cierzo 18 Backpack - 1098cu in

Rating for this product: 5 November 29, 2008

Really is Ultra-Light weight, the drawcord closure is great, love the colors (I have gold). Folds into its own pocket with a handy clip for hanging it wherever. The sternum and hipbelt are just big enough to add function while maintaining the packs minimal weight. BC.com had to replace my first pack, the shoulder straps started to tear off of the pack, probably because I shoved way too much weight into this little bag. Hassle free return. I will buy this bag again and again. Wish there was an ice axe holder on the rear, but I guess the idea would be that the ice axe is in my hand on the summit. Excellent placement of accessory loops on the shoulder straps. I have used this pack only for hiking, but plan to lead multi-pitch climbs wearing it.

This is a sturdy, lightweight spork. I love it! Used it with my titanium bowl and right out of the pouch with Mary Jane's foods.

Bomber Boots

La Sportiva Trango Trek GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

La Sportiva Trango Trek GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 18, 2008

I am starting to only use La Sportiva Boots. This is another great creation of footwear from this manufacture. Excellent grip, and good range of ankle motion to support my strong ankles. Broke them in rather quickly. Pre-break in, the left boot upper lace eyelet was putting painful pressure onto my foot, just above my ankle. But after only one hour or so of use, these boots now feel amazing. I will be using these on a 100 mile, four day hike, with a fifty pound backpack. I previously have used the Trango S EVO GTX boots and loved them.

MSR Fuel Bottles DO NOT USE

MSR Fuel Bottles DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 September 18, 2008

Just the right amount of fuel for me to use one bottle to heat a little water for breakfast and dinner for a week or more (summer use/low elevation). It is a bottle with a cool brand name on it and the cap/o-ring is durable.
